Avaton Luxury Villas Resort - Relais & Châteaux - Chalkidiki

Really nice resort, right on the beach with top food. We got half board, breakfast and either lunch or dinner every day was included. Everything was made to order, the food was very elegant and high quality. The staff (who were all very friendly and working hard) cleaned and disinfected all around the resort constantly, we felt very comfortable and safe. Things that could use improvement: - Adding a pool. For this price level, most hotels offer a large pool with a shallow area for children. Some even have a kids play area next to the pools. Here, there are some tiny plunge pools in specific rooms only but there is no large pool on property for everyone to use. They have so much space and land but do not develop it. - Expanding the spa and children’s club offerings. Currently, the hotel has two tents on the beach, one is labeled a ‘spa’ and the other a kids ‘club’. But they are very small. It would be nicer if there was a building dedicated to massage, scrubs, nail services etc. Also would be nice to have a proper gated kids building club area, that is more secure than a tent. There are no swings, climbing areas or dedicated play space. If you see how much land this hotel owns, it is very large and there is potential. There is so much greenery and grass that they could easily expand and add a swim up bar, a spa, or anything else. Instead, staff told us that management sold off part of the land and decided to build more rooms up in the hills, FURTHER away from the beach which makes no sense to me. Some of the prime land close to the beach now belongs to private business and owners. Why??? - Service on the beach is slow. Again, at this price level people want more attention, they want waiters to come over often and refill drinks, bring ice if needed, etc. Overall the staff are super nice, but most of the time they are at the restaurant cleaning and serving. On the beach there are a 1-2 people but they do not come over to the individual chairs very often. You have to search for someone to get their attention. Again, overall we enjoyed the hotel. It is clean as I said. Many couples and families come here, it is quiet and not a ‘party’ destination. We relaxed a lot and had a good time, food was excellent and chef is talented. But there is room for some improvement.

Wonderful resort. Attention to every detail. Best beach restroms that I have ever seen. Restaurant with very tasty dishes. Get the half board option which let you choose from the empty circle dinner options. Staff very welcoming. Very reccomended to couples and families.

The place is wonderful and very peaceful. Coming with the car you will discover one of the nicest view you can imagine with both seas. If you can afford to discover the Mount Athos the region worths it. The staff serving and bringing the dishes is very friendly. The lady organising the reservation tables at the restaurant is offering with small talk a great atmosphere. The restaurant is really very good. Reception nice people but not efficient enough. Not the level of Concierge in luxus hotel. Unluckiky the organisation of this hotel looks like more the one of a just normal apartment renting agency. And the apartement not finished to be installed. If they are, for this level of price not acceptable. No shelves for example or if at 2m high. No possibilities of hanging outside coming back from the beach. No towel in the kitchen etc. A great idea but not tought for a luxus hotel. Additionally if you take the expensive package of getting a swimming pool on your terrace you will get up with the person in charge of pool cleaning and giving some calls at 8h in the morning at your pool or with the cleaning ladies just in front of you when you open the door of your private terrace sometimes before 8 too. Peace yes. Intimate for sure no. Luxus only the restaurant. The concept is to be reviewed for the level of a Relais Chateau, the reception employees to be trained and in the meantime just go to the restaurant or sleep only one night ...

We have just returned from one week holiday at Avaton, and the whole experience was just amazing. The hotel is in rather secluded place, just in front of the sea and feels as a gem being placed in the best possible location. The room we stayed at (double bedroom apartment) had everything one can ask for, including a nice terrace with a nice view towards the sea. There is a private beach that has a kids' tent and a tent for massages - that was a surprise and I am included to try the message the next time we go to the location. The food is just superb. I can leave it that and just recommend that you go there, and try yourself - any item we tried from the menu had been delicious. And all the above things are impressive on its own, but the staff makes the stay an unique experience as every single person we interacted with went out of the way to help us (and certainly everyone else's) feel comfortable. You can tell how busy they are, yet the service they provided was constantly at highest possible level. My wife and I have traveled plenty with or without our kids, and had the privilege to visit many special hotels. The quality of the service the people at Avaton provide rivals the best we got to experience, if not being the best. We really want to thank everyone there for being as good as they are! And special kudos to Rusti :) it will be a surprise if don't manage to go back to Avaton for another vacation in the future, and we really recommend it as the place to go to for a vacation!

We had a super week long break here. The best things about Avaton Luxury Villas are; The staff who are very attentive and friendly. The food which is of a high standard and the location which is cut off from other villages.. down a long lane where you finally arrive at Komitsa Beach and the peacefulness starts. My only slight criticism would be that the half-board dinner menu could have done with changing once or twice during our stay or maybe a couple of food theme nights would have taken away the monotony of that. Breakfast was superb with great choice and excellent quality. We thought our home bean to cup coffee machine made the best coffee in the world but no, the latte coffee we had here with breakfast was the beat that, highly recommended :)

Hotel cancelled our reservation 3 weeks before our arrival and refused to compensate us. Terrible experience and terrible support. Stay away from this place! Edit: the hotel apologized and gave us a voucher for an off-season stay.

Excellent under all points of view, style, comfort, kindness, efficiency. Very, very good, worth its Relais Chateaux status

Avaton is an amazing place. My family and I loved how peaceful and scenic the area is. The beach is relaxing and quiet and well organized. The hotel is right on the beach in a rather secluded area which is what I was looking for. The service is very good- from drinks on the beach to the fabulous restaurant, everything is done in a thoughtful and professional manner. The food here is outstanding and the main reason why I would return- it surpassed my expectations, which were high, given this is a Relais and Chateaux property. The staff is knowledgeable, and most importantly very friendly. Their upbeat attitude contributes to a very nice dining experience. The views of the sea are beautiful as well.
