We rented a car for 6am... waited 45 mins past 6am for someone to show up and open, after calling the number on the wall 2X times. After they showed up, she left with all the keys had us waiting another 20 mins. Finally got the car.... not what we paid for but I was happy to just be out of the airport.

The prices are right, but book in advance. It is important to have driving experience because in Mykonos 70% of the routes are really bad. Unfortunately, they are not so well organised here, and be sure to check the bill before signing it.

The employees were very nice. The car was clean and when we left we got a low tyre pressure indication. The employee drove a new car to our Airbnb, but then said that everything looked normal and decided to not give us the car. The tyre visibly got lower by the end of the following day and we reached out again and were told to fill it up at a gas station. We had to do that a couple of times and found later that there was a screw in the tyre. I would use them again but for sure a mixed bag

TERRIBLE!! AVOID!!! They are scammers and their prices are not what is shown online. when you arrive to pick up the car, there are hidden charges that you have to pay otherwise you do not get the car and they overprice their insurances that are terrible too. I contracted a car on AVIS website for 10 days for the amount of £368.44 and ended up with a bill of over £1500!!!! I have to say that the extra charges are shocking and I will have to raise a complaint within my credit card and travel insurance.. AVIS is not taking any responsibility for what could have resulted in the loss of my life. I was driving a car in a very hilly town and it broke down. The roads are very dangerous in Mykonos and dark in the evenings. I called Avis and they advised me to go to the airport and I have to get a lift from a stranger to go to the airport, explain what happened. I was offered another car straight away but not only once anyone apologised to me for what happened. I have NEVER experienced such terrible customer service. The next day, I had to return the car as it was the final day of my holiday and I was again very disappointed with the way I was treated. The lady behind the counter insinuated that "I did not drive the car properly" and now I received an invoice with extortionate fees including accident repair fees? the car broke down and it was not an accident. The whole thing is just very dodgy and I would not expect that from AVIS. They are definitely never seeing me as a customer again. AVOID THEM. Check their reviews on TRUSTPILOT - SHOCKING!

Shameful behaviour from Avis at every stage of our experience with them. Adding additional unnecessary costs upon collection, dreadful customer service, failure to assist during a breakdown where we were immediately accused of causing the issues despite nobody having even seen or assessed the car, and then despite slyly adding the aforementioned expensive full cover insurance for all eventualities, post-holiday sent an invoice charging upwards of 800 Euros to cover 'breakdown repairs' Honestly, I have to give them credit for their brass neck. This is a predatory company that will not have your back when you need. So choose another car rental company and have a great holiday in Mykonos!

I have been an AVIS customer ( on average 2 weekly rental per month) in the U.S for 10+ years and never experience service like this in the US or Mexico.Absolutely horrible service. All personals were on the phone. No time to look up and say to the client (me ) one moment. Was ignored until i said i needed service. When giving me the contract, the bill was twice what AVIS reservation indicated . I told the attendant that i did not get that quote from AVIS and that something must have changed when you ( he/she)keyed my reservation. She was yelling at me as if she was a spoiled child , telling me that she didn’t change anything thing over and over. !So awkward! After re-evaluating. She said that my contract says 1.2 days vs 1 day; apparently +0.2 that made it a two day contract.... SMH - will never never rent a car in Europe. Absurdity of it all.... no quality in service. .... they told me someone outside would inspect the car with me; no one was there.... SMH. Gave me a dead tom tom with a USB but Europe doe not use USB ports compatible with the tom tom USB .... sickening... return the car after 3 hours... no usb tom tom - cant get around

Rental cars companies often have a bad reputation due to their unethical or outright scammy practices. However, this is certainly not the case, at least in my case. Agent was polite, helpful, quick and efficient. The rental fleet was among the best as far as I can tell. I got upgraded to a crossover (Peugeot 2008) which to be fair, it's a bit too big for Mykonos... but I managed. I think a Fiat 500 or Polo is more than sufficient and more suitable to the road here. I was a little bit "insulted" when I was upgraded an automatic (I'm from Canada, but I drive a manual everyday), the agent told me will wish to have an automatic here in Mykonos. And he is right. It's a hell to drive a manual here given the constant stop and go, giving way on very steep hills. Don't drive here if you're not confident about your driving. There are a lot of narrow roads that can barely fit two cars, you will need to give way or sometimes back up to yield oncoming traffic. However, once you get your hand on it, driving isn't too difficult since the local are very skilled and predictable. It's the scooters and 4x4 driven by tourists that you have to look out for. I do need to point out that this location is not 24hrs as advertised (perhaps not during low seasons, given the earliest flight arrives at noon). Although a drop box is provided for returns, use it at your own discretion, protect yourself by taking plenty of pictures and record the fuel level at return, it may save you from some headache later on disputing it.
