Castello Village Resort - I.Papatheodorou

We chose this hotel based on the pictures from their official site. The type of room we chose looked great in the pictures. Needles to say the reality was something way different.... When we approached the manager and told him this is unacceptable he told us to go to a different hotel... so there's that.

We enjoyed our stay at Castello Village Resort, the two pools are great for a swim, they even have daily activities for both kids and adults (yoga, water zumba, cooking classes, DJs). The downside of our stay was the food, which was quite terrible. We only had breakfast at the hotel, and it seemed either old or cheap. The room service was also a bit poor for a 4-star hotel, they only changed the towels and made the beds, the consumables (shower gel, shampoo, water bottles, coffee, tea, etc) were only available at arrival. As well, the wifi and network connection was either very poor or not working frou our room.

Nice location near the sea, but unfortunate experience overall. We stayed 9 nights in two different rooms (after asking to be moved). Pros: -Nice breakfast and dinner (can be repetitive) -Closeby restaurants and picturesque seaside area -Hot tubs are OK… not as clean as you’d expect -Some staff are friendly -Cheap prices on everything Cons: -Uncomfortable beds (if you don’t like sleeping on solid surfaces) -Slow or non-existent Wi-Fi (don’t plan to work remote from this hotel) -Noisy mornings (starting early you hear lots of scraping and furniture being moved) -No hot showers (fluctuates between warm and room temperature) -Staff can be unfriendly/Non-accommodating -Loud entertainment in the evenings -No extras of anything: Towels, blankets, etc -One of our rooms didn’t have a working safe and the doors were not opening without force This hotel/resort is a budget one and you should expect budget experience. —- *** Updating review, removing a star -There is no gym, sauna, room service, outside drinks allowed in the rooms, wifi service in room, extra blankets, or a sense of accommodation when you run into any of these blockages. This is a 2.5 star hotel at best and is listed at 4 stars. Buyer beware.

Excellent Resort, fantastic location in Crete. Spacious apartments, great views, easy access to pools and the sea. Modern design and local architecture with attention to ancient history. Delicious cousins with local and international variety. Very nice, helpful and professional staff and high hygienic standards. A great place to spend holidays with family and friends.

Everything you need. Gorgeous pool. Sifis is sooo friendly. He gave us great recommendations. Perfect location to explore nearby beaches and Priveli.

4* hotel within a few metres of a very rocky beach. 300m from small town of Sissi with its many cafes bike/ quad hire etc. Good buffet food and pools in hotel. Staff are approachable but generally leave customers to own devices...which most of the latter seem to prefer. After midnight it is quiet though most rooms have balconies. A nearby pub/bar...the jolly Roger has excellent rock music most nights. This is an adults hotel any certainly not for the drunken youngsters type holiday...there are nearby resorts catering for this. Sissi is relatively quiet with plenty of hotel types to choose from.

Hotel looks nice in appearance. We opted for half board but the food was appalling so we ate at surrounding restaurants instead. The food choices for the evening dinner are extremely poor. For Vegetarians, there’s not much to choose from other than a basic salad and a very bland pasta with tomato sauce. During our seven night stay the room wasn’t cleaned once. Only the bed was made. The general facilities and amenities were okay but not great. The entire hotel only has 1 iron available which we had to wait a long time for when we requested it. We were asked to return it pretty much immediately as well. To summarise, I would say that this is a 3 star hotel at most.

Lovely small hotel with fantastic views. The staff are really friendly and very helpful. It is right on the sea front with the beach to the right and harbour to the left. Really good choice for breakfast with hot food cereals meats and cheeses. Even an omelette station.
