J	Joseph Goralik on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Conquered Lera cave after 50 minutes hike on goat zigzag path. For this 75 yrs old I consider it as a personal achievement LOL. For those in good physical shape it can be done in about 20 minutes. Appx 70 meters elevation from the trail entrance. Unfortunately the cave entrance walls are defaced with ever present graffiti. Start early morning while the trail is in the shade. Dip in the Zorbas Beach after the descent. Most expensive sun umbrellas (20€ per day) that I have seen on the island of Crete. About 14 km drive from downtown Chania.

Take a torch, as the cave goes back further than you think. Hobbits used to live here 2000 years ago. Frodo left his signature on the wall
J	Justin bunn on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An easy enough strole that is clearly marked by dirt pathways. There's a small car park at the bottom enough for 4 cars and street parking a few mins away. Takes about 30 mins steady walk to the top. Some parts are steep and nearer the top you may need to use hands to steady yourself. We managed with minimum gear. Trainers,shorts etc. Well worth the hike but do bring a decent torchbecause there are some parts of the cave which are completely dark. Views from the top are excellent and make for a really nice photo to take home.
R	Roma on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful view. Take a torch with you, if you are going inside the Cave. The torch from your phone won't be enough, if you want to explore. There are 2 thin strings in the ground (red and white) that you can follow, if you are afraid of getting lost.
W	William Cheng on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don’t be afraid of height, it could take less than 15 mins for a dude to climb up here, if you take it slowly, probably around 20 mins. The key is not to stop or sit down, you can take a rest, but don’t sit down.

You can take paths that are easier or harder depending on how steep you want to climb. The elevation gained is around 500ft or 152 meters. The cave is nice if you a flashlight you can go further in and see more of the cave. The view you can see is everything from Gold Beach all the way to Chania. The hike is definitely worth the hike. Good for a leisure day hike if you want to fit it into your day. Shoes will turn red color from the dirt.
M	Manos K. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It a lovely path to the cave and if sunny, you can see pretty far away to the white mountains and all the way to Chania coastline. Stay on the goat path as it may be dangerous. It mostly worth climbing for the view, not the cave itself which is used by goats as shelter. Shoes, water, take it slow and keep an eye if with kids. 30' ..you are there!
