Ήταν σύγχρονος του Ιησού Χριστού προετοίμασε τον κόσμο να υποδεχθεί τον Μεσσία , εξ ου και ο χαρακτηρισμός "Πρόδρομος", τον οποίο και βάπτισε. Βρίσκεται στο μεταίχμιο μεταξύ της Παλαιάς και της Καινής Διαθήκης. Στην Παλαιά θεωρείται ως "Προφήτης" και στην Καινή ως "Πρόδρομος".
 John the Baptist (June 24 of 6 BC), also called John the Baptist, is a prophet of Christianity. He was a contemporary of Jesus Christ prepared the world to welcome the Messiah, hence the title "Prodromos", which he baptized. It is located at the cross between the Old Testament and the New Testament. In Palaia he is considered as "Prophet" and in Kino as "Prodromos".
