Ι	ΙΩΑΝΝΗΣ ΒΑΡΑΛΗΣ on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Στα όρια σήμερα του Δήμου Βόλου και παλαιότερα της κοινότητας Ανακασιάς, της ονομαζόμενης περιοχής '' Κήπια '', γιατί στον τόπο αυτό οι κάτοικοι φύτευαν κηπευτικά, βρίσκεται ο Ιερός Ναός της Μεγαλομάρτυρος Αγίας Αικατερίνης. Την εποχή του 1979 ελάχιστες είναι οι κατοικίες που υπήρχαν στην περιοχή αυτή όπου σήμερα έχει αναπτυχθεί οικοδομικά η πόλη του βόλου. Τότε στο σημείο όπου υπήρχε ένα μικρό προσκυνητάρι της Αγίας Αικατερίνης και στο χώρο του οικοπέδου της κ. Ναυσικάς Σφέτσιου και ένα μικρό τμήμα του κ. Θεοδώρου Σούλιου αποφασίστηκε από λίγους αρχικά κατοίκους της περιοχής να κτισθεί ο νέος Ναός . Την 17η Δεκεμβρίου του 1979 πραγματοποιείται η τελετή της Θεμελίωσης του Ιερού Ναού από τον νυν Μακαριώτατο Αρχιεπίσκοπο Αθηνών και Πάσης Ελλάδος κ.κ. Χριστόδουλο και τότε Μητροπολίτη Δημητριάδος, με την παρουσία των κατοίκων της περιοχής που με δάκρυα στα μάτια από χαρά έβλεπαν οι πολλές προσπάθειες που είχαν καταβάλει να παίρνουν '' σάρκα και οστά''. Οι μεγάλες θυσίες από όλους τους πιστούς και της ευρύτερης περιοχής της Μαγνησίας για την κατασκευή του υπογείου χώρου του ναού, έφτασαν στο τέλος τους και έτσι για πρώτη φορά τελείται η Θεία Λειτουργία την Κυριακή των Βαΐων του 1980. Όμως συνεχίζονται, με αργούς βέβαια ρυθμούς, λόγω της δυσχερής οικονομικής κατάστασης, η πρόοδος των εργασιών για την ολοκλήρωση του πάνω χώρου όπου θα λειτουργούσε ο ναός αφιερωμένος σε δύο Μεγαλομάρτυρας την Αγία Αικατερίνη και τον Άγιο Χριστοφόρο, με την εμπνευσμένη πνευματική καθοδήγηση του ιερέως π. Σταύρου Κωστίμπα. Ύστερα από έξι χρόνια πολλών κόπων και προσπαθειών όλων των κατοίκων της περιοχής και του τότε εξωραϊστικού συλλόγου με τον πρόεδρο του Απόστολο Καραουλάνη ήρθε η πιο σημαντική στιγμή του έτους 1986 για την λειτουργία του Ναού. Ο ρυθμός του Ναού είναι η τρίκλιτος βασιλική και ο αγιογραφικός κύκλος που ιστορείται και συνεχίζεται μέχρι και σήμερα, είναι έργο του γνωστού αγιογράφου κ. Ζαχαρία Καραφέργια. But they continue, at slow pace, due to the difficult economic situation, the progress of the work on the completion of the upper area where the church dedicated to two Grand Master, Saint Catherine and Saint Christopher, would operate, with the inspirational spiritual guidance of priest Stavros Kostiba. After six years of many efforts and efforts of all the inhabitants of the region and the then-adornment association with the president of Apostolos Karaoulanis came the most important moment of 1986 for the operation of the Temple. The rhythm of the Temple is the three-aisled basilica and the hagiographic cycle that is still under way and continues until today, is the work of the well-known hagiographer, Zacharia Karafergia.
