Ιδρυτές ήταν μοναχοί από το Άγιο Όρος και επιφανείς βυζαντινές οικογένειες. Το 1207μ.Χ. η ευρύτερη περιοχή παραχωρήθηκε από τον Μιχαήλ Άγγελο Δούκα Κομνηνό στον Κωνσταντίνο Μελισσηνό. Αυτός ασφάλισε τη Δημητριάδα τόσο στον παράλιο χώρο όσο και στην ενδοχώρα, κτίζοντας πύργους επισκοπήσεως για την προστασία του πληθυσμού. Έκτισε επίσης μοναστήρια και εκκλησίες. Η εκκλησία είναι τρίκλιτη βασιλική, χωρίς τρούλο, με διαστάσεις 15Χ8,5 μέτρα περίπου. Στη δυτική πλευρά του ναού είναι εντοιχισμένη η σαρκοφάγος της μοναχής Ανθούσας, κατά κόσμον Άννας Μελλισηνής. Ο ναός πυρπολήθηκε από τους τούρκους το 1821 και οι εσωτερικές τοιχογραφίες είναι σε κακή κατάσταση. Οι εξωτερικές τοιχογραφίες του ξύλινου υπόστεγου έχουν υποστεί φθορές από βάνδαλους της σύγχρονης εποχής. The hill of Episkopi is located in Ano Volos. Since the 10th century, large monasteries have begun building in pirated places. Founders were monks from Mount Athos and eminent Byzantine families. In 1207 AD. the wider region was granted by Michelangelo Douka Komninos to Konstantinos Melissenos. He insured Demetrias both on the coast and on the hinterland, building observation towers to protect the population. He also built monasteries and churches. The church is a three-aisled basilica without a dome, measuring approximately 15x8.5 meters. On the west side of the temple is the sarcophagus of the nun Anthousa, in the world Anna Melisseni. The temple was burned by the Turks in 1821 and the interior frescoes are in poor condition. The exterior frescoes of the wooden shed have been damaged by vandals of the modern era.

Στην τοιχοποιία του φέρει πάρα πολλά spolia, μαρμάρινα γλυπτά κάθε είδους. Επίσης είναι ωραίο μέρος για περίπατο και προσφέρει όμορφη θέα. Πάρα πολύ κοντά του βρίσκεται και το βυζαντινό εκκλησάκι της Μεταμόρφωσης που δεν πρέπει να παραλήψει κάποιος που θα επισκεφθεί την Επισκοπή. Εύκολη πρόσβαση. Αφήνεις το αυτοκίνητο στον κεντρικό δρόμο και με 5-10 λεπτά περπάτημα στο μονοπάτι φτάνεις στους δύο ναούς. Πρώτα συναντάς την Μεταμόρφωση. Byzantine monument with post-Byzantine frescoes. The temple is placed with uncertainty in the 13th century. In its masonry it has many spolia, marble sculptures of all kinds. It is also a nice place for a walk and offers beautiful views. Very close to it is the Byzantine church of the Transfiguration that should not be missed by anyone who will visit the Diocese. Easy access. You leave the car on the main road and with a 5-10 minute walk on the path you reach the two temples. First you meet the Transfiguration.
