n	n.p. production on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To ξωκλήσι της Ανάληψης ή αλλιώς η «τρύπια εκκλησία» βρίσκεται λίγο πιο πάνω από το Μοναστήρι της Καισαριανής, στο δάσος του Υμηττού. Το ξωκλήσι της Ανάληψης έχει στους τοίχους του εικόνες, αγιογραφίες και αφιερώματα. Δεν υπάρχει πόρτα. Είναι ανοιχτό για όλους: καθαρό, φροντισμένο, προσεγμένο, δίνει την αίσθηση ότι υπάρχει καθημερινή ανθρώπινη παρουσία εκεί. The chapel of the Ascension or the "hole church" is located just above the Monastery of Kaisariani, in the forest of Hymettus. The chapel of the Ascension has on its walls icons, hagiographies and tributes. There is no door. It is open to everyone: clean, well-groomed, neat, it gives the feeling that there is a daily human presence there.

Διπλα του περνάει και το βοτανικό μονοπάτι, μια ωραία πρωτοβουλία των Φίλων του Δάσους, για να μπορεί κάποιος να μάθει τα φυτά και τα δέντρα της περιοχής. Το εκκλησάκι αυτό σαν τεχνοτροπία είναι αρκετά περίεργο απο αρχιτεκτονική αποψη (αναφερεται και ως "τρυπια εκκλησιά". Έχει γράψει για το εκκλησάκι αυτό και ο Παπαδιαμάντης (στο διήγημα "Το θαύμα της Καισαριανής). Το νερό που αναβλύζει εκεί αναφέρεται ως αγίασμα. Πιθανόν να ήταν μεσαιωνική κιστέρνα, η οποία κάποια στιγμή έγινε εκκλησία μετά απο κατεδάφιση της μιας πλευράς της. Σε κάθε περίπτωση, αξίζει κάποιος να την επισκευτεί. Στη δεξαμενη διπλα της υπάρχουν πολύχρωμα ψάρια, και γενικά ο χώρος δίπλα της προσφέρεται για αναψυχή. Προσοχη στις ενοχλήτικές σφήκες εντός του ιερού! Wonderful church in the Aesthetic forest of Kaisariani, just above the monastery. Next to it passes the botanical path, a nice initiative of the Friends of the Forest, so that one can learn the plants and trees of the area. This small church as a style is quite strange from an architectural point of view (it is also referred to as a "perforated church". Papadiamantis has also written about this small church (in the short story "The Miracle of Kaisariani). The water that gushes there is mentioned as holy water. It was a medieval cistern, which at some point became a church after the demolition of one side of it. In any case, it is worth visiting. annoying wasps inside the sanctuary!

A wonderful church in the forest ... incredible experience ... is located just above the monastery of Kaisariani .... there is an alley that leads you ....

Εχει πολλές πηγες και δυο ανοιχτές δεξαμενες συλλογής νερου. Η ατμόσφαιρα είναι έντονα πνευματικά ηλεκτρισμενη... A temple with hundreds of icons, inside the trees, is difficult to distinguish and is accessible only by path. It has many springs and two open water collection tanks. The atmosphere is intensely spiritually electrified ...

K	Krzysztof Zajkowski on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I found out this small beautiful Orthodox church hiking in a big park close to Athens. The area is big with many easy hiking trails. If you want to make more difficult look for quarry nearby and climb some rocks there :)
C	Chiara D'Ascenzo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful place, is totally worth the hiking to reach it. Is placed in the middle of the amazing perfuming forest and the view of Athens is unique. An hidden gem totally away from the middle crowd. I suggest to get there walking, and of course to do the visit of the old bizantine monastery.
