Really good hotel. The food was good too!! And the people that are working there were always really friendly and make you feel like home the whole time.

A lovely place to stay. Delicious food the whole day, beautiful nature and very friendly staff. Unfortunately there's no fitness center. The one you can use in the neighboring creta royal is in no good condition, for 20 €/h just too old. Besides this everything else was very pleasant. I would travel there again!

The location is made beautiful, but looks still very natural. All rooms are bright and big enough to feel comfortable. The service is very friendly and helpful. The buffet is diversified and tasteful.

We have arrived at the Creta Royal 2 days ago, the 26th of August and have since then been amazed by the quality of the hotel and its amenities, the dedication of the staff and the peaceful atmosphere. The hotel is truly adult-only (with even a few noisy kids being asked to return to the Creta Star hotel next door which allows kids) and the only soundtrack to a day at the pool is the waves of the ocean breaking on the beach. The food is fantastic, the view during lunch is unbeatable and both dinner and breakfast amazed us. All staff we have met so far were super friendly and personable. We are looking forward to spending the remainder of our week's holiday knowing we have picked Crete's best hotel :)

This hotel is not to be missed, location is fantastic and basically connected to a beautiful beach. Service here is amazing, we had our room changed on arrival becuase the terrace with partial sea view was dark and felt a little claustrophobic seen as they don't have windows and got given a room with a balcony with partial sea view. Selections at the bars all inclusive was extensive and service from waiters was fantastic. Only negative I could think of is the rooms are a little dated but in all honesty you won't spend much time in the rooms becuase the area and food is beautiful.

BEWARE this is not a 5-star hotel as claimed on booking.com. I would give it 2 stars if I could. 1. The hotel is dated, everything is very old, (like it’s stuck in the 90-s)there s a funky smell of mold everywhere, including the rooms.(which they try to cover with the toilet air freshener ) On the third day of our stay, they had some sewers issue and it smelled like sewers everywhere outside! (Very bad smell) 2. The room service does a VERY POOR JOB cleaning. Also a bottle of water is provided every 3 days! There s no minibar or anything like that. The rooms are filled with mosquitos! They provide some sort of mosquito repellent that doesn’t really work. 3. Most of their staff is very rude. Including the ones working in the restaurant or at the bar. 4. There s a lot of old Germans who are allowed to smoke everywhere, including the seating area by the pool. 5. The food in the restaurant is just ok. But don’t drink the wine. It’s very cheap(3euro a bottle) and my mom got a bad food poisoning after drinking a glass. The a-la-carte dinner that they provide is horrible— very small plates, very little food and very slow service. You ll spend the whole evening waiting for your potato appetizers and fish bite/potato main course. 6. If you have only breakfast/dinner included, you ll have to pay for your water. They will not provide it for you. 7. The beach is very small, and there s a lot of seaweed—so it smells like old seaweed everywhere. 8. My last point is the coffee, that is really really bad, obviously. I chose this hotel for my parents and myself as it was highly rated, but please don’t trust the good reviews.

A few days ago we returned from our holiday and we would like to express our gratitude to the whole team, especially to a very lovely lady named Katherina (serving best drinks) and super cool bartender Alex (top iced cappuccinos!) They were all very polite, radiant and made us feel at home. Sanitary measures against Covid-19 were strictly observed. Location of hotel is perfect if you go north of the island and you looking for peace and quiet (there’s a ban on music all over the place that is just excellent!). Outrageously beautiful setting in the mid of nowhere offering scenic views and very tranquil, it feels like it’s just you. Few miles away from Rethymno (a must visit place - €20 cab one way - beware of public transport - there are buses operating on a daily basis but don’t rely on its timetable!) and 1.5h drive to Chania (Heraklion was a total waste of time). The facility is lovely however a bit outdated (furniture, aircon). The pool area is large (2x swimming pools) yet bear in mind it is a salty water (!) hence why not as pleasant as one would think (possibly not fit for majority as they may prefer a chlorinated one, it’s all down to you). And they shut at 6pm that is way too early. The hotel offers an airport transfer right to doorsteps however it isn’t clear enough while booking that this is a one-way (!) transfer only (plus you have to stay minimum 7 nights to apply for it). I had to wait for 6hrs+ on the airport for my wife to come to be able to get to the hotel together, not a nice move that has been discussed over the phone with the booking people but they didn’t seem to bother offering any reasonable solution but an extra transfer for myself for €100 (!), clearly disappointing CUSTOMER SERVICE that needs immediate improvement. As it was our honey moon, we did a little request that was included within the price yet not guaranteed. We requested for a high floor room but the hotel didn’t honour it at all. Instead of overlooking a mountain, we overlooked the rear of the hotel. They didn’t check our request even upon arrival. A tip for the booking people: DON’T MAKE PROMISES YOU DON’T INTEND TO KEEP! JUST DON’T! Another thing is a huge number of German speaking guests. It sometimes feels like it’s all set up for them, starting from TV channels (!) - this is appealing: 90% in German: ARD, ZDF, Pro 7, RTL etc…), thru German-made buffet in the corner, to some staff speaking to us in German (no clue why?). I understand that majority clientele are Germans but hey! there are other countries too! :) And NETFLIX would be defo a bonus! Apparently it’s a 5* hotel and we live in 21st century guys! And they reserve all the sun beds on the lawn from dusk I believe that was annoying. The SPA centre in the offer exists… on a leaflet I guess. Never seen any SPA team as it’s been shut throughout our stay and from what we’ve been told they charge even for a gym. Special thanks to the room service ladies who went beyond and above to keep the rooms clean and tidy. Working hard and yet very polite and smiley. Food quality went beyond our expectations! All fresh and delicious! Huts off! Those who may complain about the food must be either Schnitzel-lovers or out of their mind! The chefs and kitchen staff are extremely friendly, sometimes we had to wait ca.10mins for a coffee but not a big deal as it was really bustling and busy. Well done guys! Freshness and variety of your dishes was something that we will forever treasure! Extra bonus for lunches set up in the tavern by the beach! Adults only means tranquility and peace (no kids running around and messing up) Great move for those looking for a relaxation and resting. Thank you COVID TEAM for testing on site! (€60) Despite few issues we highly recommend it! 4/5

It is branded as a 5 star hotel, however it is more in-line with a 2 star hotel. Maybe in the early 1990s it would have been considered a higher star rating, but this hotel is a massive disappointment. Aesthetically, it is simply sad. There appears to have been zero upgrades to the hotel since it was constructed decades ago. There is a constant smell of cigarette smoke in the lobby, and a generally “funk” of a smell in the rooms. To mask the funky smell the housekeeping staff sprays a heavy scent (which is not great). Upon checking in, the staff has the guests fill out by hand all personal information - regardless if you’ve booked online and already offered all of that relevant information. In the hotel rooms you’ve been gifted a plate of fruit, covered in seran wrap, and a bottle of wine (valued at 3.70€), with no wine glasses. There is a safe in the room - however, if you lose the safe key you’re screwed ? the bathrooms of course are also dated, so if you enjoy a retro capsule aesthetic then this may be interesting for you - it is simply not for my liking. The food - it appears that the food is of a very low grade since it is all inclusive - again not to my liking - similar to the low quality wine. The common areas - after pool hours the pools are fenced off with construction pylons and ropes - not really aligned with a five star hotel feeling. The bar area / restaurant - don’t bother asking for a cappuccino, it’s horrible. The staff - hit and miss. Some of the team is polite and some of the team is generally rude. I speak the Greek language and I overhear them swearing amongst one another constantly - this includes the housekeeping staff as well. The beach - lots of seaweed had piled up along the shore when we were visiting. Not the greatest stretch of beach. The beach chairs / pool chairs - they need updating like everything else. They’re dirty and too small. If you’ve ever been to Cuba, this is like a 3 star Cuban resort.
