Creta Star Hotel - Rethymnon

We spent a wonderful week in Creta Star in early July 2020, despite the pandemic limitations. The staff went out of their way to keep the guests safe, all wore masks and gloves (in the summer heat!), the cleaning personnel wore something reminiscent of medical PPE, the area was disinfected regularly. Guests mostly did not wear masks. It was less crowded obviously which is also nice, plenty of sunbeds available. The hotel next door - Creta Royal - was closed, but the area and sunbeds were available to Creta Star guests. The animation team offered a variety of activities and fun shows every night, spoke English, German and Russian. The hotel is located on the beach and next to a major highway, well connected to the rest of the island. Some of the current limitations: - Room cleaning is only once a week, you get to choose the day. - In the buffet you are served by the staff, but it is not a problem at all. - The pool is open but there is only one entry point. - The enclosed pool, billiards room, open air theater are closed, the rest is open. Overall we felt very welcome and safe thanks to dedication of staff in these strange times. Thank you so much!

It was was my third time in Creta Star hotel, so of course my rating is 5/5 stars. I should be there in June 2020 but due to epidemiologic situation I had to rebook it for September. My biggest concern was how the kitchen staff will work under completely new situation - limited guest number in a dining area and lack of self service. I remembered that hotel has themed-dinners and now I was wondering if there will be enough food options (like vegetarian). There was no need to worry, I never waited in queue longer than about 3 minutes! First you have to collect your plate and Fotini and Cristal (if I remember correctly name) done great job in managing hungry guests! Then you have to choose what you want to eat, but you can't touch it yourself, but no worries - the wonderful team of Maria, Maria, Eleni, Sofia and all staff that names I forgot to ask help you and quickly gives you what you want. And there's no rush, you can walk around and decide but still the other hungry guests are not watching you like they want to kill you because it all goes so perfectly quick! Ladies you are doing your job great! And I had opportunity to practice my Greek so I ordered almost all the food in Greek and wonderful team told me new words and even recipes. Also big thank you goes to Manolis - waiter in the non-smoking pool area for a great service and delivering spoon to eat a dessert before I even asked :D If you are concerned about disinfection in dining areas, please don't be. All the hotel staff disinfect all tables and chairs and even sunbeds! The rooms are cleaned every second day. About sunbeds, Creta Royal is closed but you can use it's garden and pool, so there's no super terrible crowd in the hotel garden. I spent wonderful two weeks there and I would like to thank all the hotel staff for their hard work! And yeah, there's hotel goose that walks around beach and Creta Royal garden :)

Ding Dong, Ding Dong: it was an amazing stay there! Food amazing and staff always polite and helpful. Especially Ms Izabela stole our hearts ♥️ Darts with her was a highlight everyday :) planning our next trip already! In Love Felix & Simon

Great adult-friendly hotel, with perfect food, nice surroundings - beach and pool area. Gym might be lot better, how ever i dont expect that many people on all inclusive are using it?. Rooms are clean, lot of space. Hotel safe is extremely nice and polite, i will no more go to Turkey since this experience❤️Definitely approve?? /however, guests are too ignorant to obey covid restrictions all the time/

Lovely clean hotel in a nice quiet location but good road links to get out and about to see other parts of the island, we hired a car from compass car rentals - excellent price for a lovely vw polo. Good selection of food and very tasty, lovely puddings ! all staff very pleasant and all wearing ppe,not all guests wearing masks but allowed to make free choice on that, we tended to wear them but only in the lift and dining area. Rooms were clean and comfortable - reduced maid service to limit contact but still had 3 visits per week. Plenty of sunbeds available and nice swimming pool, daily programme of activities but limited at the moment due to covid. Animation staff very friendly and did the best they could due to current situation. Evening entertainment each night for approx 30 minutes , other than that nothing no music playing or anything but that was fine for us we took playing cards , chatted to others and had a few drinks in the bar which closed at midnight. Small sandy/stone beach sea could be rough but there was a flag system in place and a lifeguard. I only gave 4 stars as felt there is slight room for improvement: Room especially the bathroom floor could have been cleaner. Plug on the bath didn't seal, we reported this on day 1 but never did get fixed. Aircon in room was very old and not much use, just glad it was late summer. Overall we recommend the hotel and we felt safe and had a lovely stay, we would not let any of the above points stop us from returning. Thankyou Creta Star !

Wonderful hotel! Great service and facilities, well maintained, nice private beach, good and varied food, clean, friendly and professional staff, overall - very good experience! Special thanks to Yota the manager who helped us a lot!

Great hotel for a good price! The animation team is awesome and we joined lots of activities and evening events. If you do not want to participate you can still relax and they are not too pushy. Renting table tennis equipment, tennis rackets beach towels and sunbeds is free of charge. They do not offer bicycles rental but there is a bus station in front of the hotel. The hotel complex including gardens and the beach are beautiful and well maintained. Pool was clean, very cold and contains salt water. The food was good, but allergy information is not always correct! I asked the restaurant staff if the ‚vegan‘ yoghurt is really vegan (my gf tried it and it tasted like normal yoghurt, so I asked if it’s really vegan as stated on the little info tag in front of it.) They told me it’s not vegan but full fat yoghurt. They offered almond and oat milk, vegan margarine and vegan cheese (tasted vegan!). At the restaurant some guests fed an unhealthy looking cat which was not stopped by the restaurant staff. Very unhygienic since the people also touched the buffet cutlery with the hands they petted the cat with. Very nice stay at the hotel! The location around the hotel is not very nice though

Nice gardens, close to the 400m short beach. Enough free sun loungers. Decent, but quite greasy food. We had a junior suite with excellent views to the west. Unfortunately the busy main road is very noisy and spoils the time on the large balcony. The bed was quite hard and fitted with shared sheet and blanket. Not comfortable! Whereas the hotel grounds are lovely the surrounding area, and we explored it in a radius of about 5 km, is very neglected, untidy, rundown and dirty. You can only walk inland or parallel with the noisy main road. Because of the lack of nice walks and the unappealing immidiate area I would not visit the hotel again.
