Skiathos Airport is much improved since the building works and the new departure area is much cleaner with decent facilities, however it still has only a tiny shop and cafe once through to the gates. If anything the shop is now way smaller so not much duty free on offer. I'd recommended using the toilets between hand luggage check and passport check as the ones in the gate are way busier. The runway is short so makes for a fun (or hairy depending on how you look at it) take-off and landing. The staff for uk flights for jet2 were really friendly and helpful in the airport, and we got fast tracked on arrival and departure as we had our one year old with us which was great. Taxis are fairly regular from the airport taxi rank to town and cost us €13 (in 2020) Taxis back from the town shipping port rank to the airport are similar prices. Worth booking in advance as with only a few flights out the taxis to the airport tend to be busy a few hours before take off. Getting through arrivals is fairly speedy as is baggage claim so no point rushing to get off the plane!

Hello! Our flight was supposed to depart 35 minutes ago. It didn't. And we received no information until now. There is no one from the staff around. Dear airport, all good?

Worst airport I have ever visited. Toilets are in horrible condition. Very chaotic and unorganized. Poor security checks and lack of flight information.

The place needs some love and a lick of paint. It's very busy and the queuing system is a bit haphazard. In the departure lounge where you are a captive audience the refreshment counter literally rip the arse out of it. We paid as much for 3 canned drinks, a sandwich and small pot of pringles than you'd expect to pay for a meal out for two.

Liked the relocation, feels more modern than the usual island airport.

I can sit by the near restaurants and/or pubs and watch planes land all day long! Enjoy!

Both sides to land and arrive are sea sided. It's a "Saint Martin" Port in Europe. Small and well localized airport.

Skiathos Airport is a small airport, but nothing smaller than the airports of other Greek Islands. Our visit in 2017 was just okay and the terminal was in clear need of refurbishment, however the refurbishment works that have been ongoing since 2018 are progressing well as of July 2019. The works have included a general clean up of the terminal and the airport's capacity is being increased, with more check in desks, an extra security lane and more aircraft stands. The experience was much easier and swift this visit, right from the check in desks where you no longer need to load the hold luggage onto the conveyer yourself as a new belt has been installed. A new terminal for domestic flights is under construction too, freeing up space in the main terminal for international departures. On arrival the experience is ten times better, with organised queues and multiple passport checkpoints, making it much quicker to get through. Bags took a while to come through though, as even though there were two conveyer, they only used one. Security was swift and another lane has been added to speed up the process, though it still must get busy on a Friday (the busiest day for flights) and really there should be a third lane, though we flew on a Wednesday. The departure lounge is tonnes better, with two duty free shops which resemble those in UK airports, much better than the single one that previously existed. There are multiple cafés in the terminal, all which are modern and serve sandwiches, drinks and tray bakes at a reasonable price and are just a massive improvement over the previous offerings, with plenty of seating. Toilets have been improved drastically - they're now very modern and clean, and there's plenty of them too throughout the terminal which is good to see, as the toilets were the worst part of the terminal beforehand. Whilst you're in Skiathos, a visit to the end of what is now runway 1 is a must-do, as you can watch arriving and departing aircraft very close up and it's a cool experience. Can't wait to see what the terminal is like once the works are fully completed.
