★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Net terug van een heerlijke week bij Footscapes. We voelden ons na het warme welkom meteen thuis. Veel gezien en mooie wandelingen gemaakt in dit bloemrijke jaargetijde. Daarna de vermoeide spieren laten ontspannen in het sfeervolle zwembad .
Ria en Jeroen tipten ons voor fijne tavernes en restaurantjes. Ook heerlijk geslapen, waardoor we na een week uitgerust naar het kille Nederland vertrokken.
 Just back from a wonderful week at Footscapes. We immediately felt at home after the warm welcome. Much seen and beautiful walks in this flowery season. Then relax the tired muscles in the attractive swimming pool.
Ria and Jeroen tipped us for nice taverns and restaurants. We also slept wonderfully, so we left after a week rested for the chilly Netherlands.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We hebben een top vakantie gehad bij Ria & Jeroen. Gastvrije mensen, niets is teveel. Prachtige wandeling gemaakt met Jeroen, op plekken geweest en dingen gezien waar we anders niet zouden zijn geweest. Heerlijke studio, fijn bed en alles voorhanden om zelf desgewenst een potje te koken en voor het ontbijt. Kortom; een echte aanrader!! Oja, èn héérlijk gezwommen!
We had a great holiday at Ria & Jeroen. Hospitable people, nothing is too much. Made a beautiful walk with Jeroen, went to places and seen things that we would not have been otherwise. Lovely studio, nice bed and everything available to cook a pot yourself and for breakfast if you wish. In short; highly recommended!! Oh yes, and great swimming!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Uitzonderlijk mooie plek om een vakantie te vieren op Kreta.
In het dorpje Kástellos ,kun je boven op een berg een comfortabele studio huren bij Jeroen en Ria. Op de berg heb je een geweldig uitzicht naar alle zijden: de bergen en de zee.. Al snel komt het relaxte gevoel over je en is het genieten van de warmte, de kleuren en het zwembad. In dorpjes is het heerlijk eten en de Kretenzers zijn erg vriendelijk en gastvrij. Jeroen en Ria weten alles over de omgeving. Ze geven tips en met Jeroen kun je wandelingen onder begeleiding maken wat zeker een aanrader is. In de omgeving hebben we genoten van het rijden op de mooie bergweggetjes, de abdijen en het nieuwe museum. De gezellige stad Rethymno is een 20 minuten rijden.
Exceptionally nice place to spend a holiday in Crete.
In the village of Kástellos, you can rent a comfortable studio on top of a mountain from Jeroen and Ria. On the mountain you have a great view to all sides: the mountains and the sea .. Soon the relaxed feeling comes over you and you can enjoy the warmth, the colors and the swimming pool. In villages it is delicious food and the Cretans are very friendly and hospitable. Jeroen and Ria know everything about the area. They give tips and with Jeroen you can take guided walks which is definitely recommended. In the area we enjoyed driving on the beautiful mountain roads, the abbeys and the new museum. The cozy town of Rethymno is a 20 minute drive away.

We waren afgelopen mei te gast bij Jeroen en Ria en werden erg hartelijk ontvangen.
De studio's zien er spic en span uit en hebben een prachtig uitzicht aan voor en achterkant. Je ziet de roofvogels en de gieren van dichtbij langs zweven. Hier ervaar je weer wat echte stilte is maar ook de heldere sterrenhemel zie je thuis niet.
Met de huurauto kan je vanuit Footscapes het mooie eiland ontdekken, van Jeroen en Ria krijg je goede tips, ook naar de restaurantjes in de bergdorpjes in de buurt waar je erg lekker kan eten voor een heel betaalbare prijs. Hier komen ook de Grieken zelf en is niet te vergelijken met de toeristische kustplaatsen.
We hebben ook een paar wandelingen gedaan met Jeroen die prachtige routes heeft liggen waar je uit kan kiezen. We hebben er ook vanuit de studio zelf gelopen, ze zijn duidelijk beschreven en je kan kiezen in de categorieën gemakkelijk tot erg pittig.Wijhebben ook de 2 kloventocht gedaan die voor t grootste deel in de schaduw is, het was overweldigend mooi.
Bij terugkomst is het heerlijk om in het zwembad lekker af te koelen!
Deze vakantie was een toppertje met dank aan Jeroen en Ria!

Prime location!
We were guests of Jeroen and Ria last May and were received very warmly.
The studios look spic and span and have a beautiful view at the front and back. You can see the birds of prey and the vultures floating by up close. Here you experience again what real silence is, but you also don't see the clear starry sky at home.
By rental car you can discover the beautiful island from Footscapes, from Jeroen and Ria you will get good tips, also to the restaurants in the mountain villages in the area where you can eat very well for a very affordable price. The Greeks also come here and cannot be compared with the tourist coastal towns.
We have also done a few walks with Jeroen who has beautiful routes that you can choose from. We also walked them from the studio itself, they are clearly described and you can choose in the categories easy to very spicy. We also did the 2 gorges tour which is mostly in the shade, it was overwhelmingly beautiful.
When you return, it is wonderful to cool off in the pool!
This holiday was a topper thanks to Jeroen and Ria!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ik en mijn vriend hebben een weekje in de pod geslapen. We hebben elke ochtend genoten van een heerlijk ontbijt aan de picknicktafel met een fantastisch uitzicht. Zelfs afwassen in de buitenkeuken wordt (bijna) een feest.
De pod is erg schoon, vrolijk ingericht met alles voorhanden en veel groter dan we gedacht hadden.
Overdag kun je met de huurauto door de vele dorpjes rijden en
‘s avonds zijn er genoeg sterren te zien en kun je relaxen op de strandstoelen bij de pod. Het is de ideale omgeving om tot rust te komen.
Jeroen en Ria zijn warme mensen en laten je welkom voelen. Ze hebben genoeg tips voor auto- en wandelroutes, restaurants etc.
We hebben genoten van deze vakantie en zijn helemaal ontspannen en opgeladen.
Ik kan iedereen Footscapes of Crete aanbevelen.
Me and my boyfriend slept in the pod for a week. Every morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the picnic table with a fantastic view. Even washing dishes in the outdoor kitchen is (almost) a party.
The pod is very clean, cheerfully decorated with everything available and much larger than we thought.
During the day you can drive through the many villages with the rental car and
In the evening there are enough stars to see and you can relax on the beach chairs at the pod. It is the ideal environment to relax.
Jeroen and Ria are warm people and make you feel welcome. They have enough tips for car and walking routes, restaurants etc.
We enjoyed this holiday and are completely relaxed and charged.
I can recommend Footscapes of Crete to everyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place, really comfortable, well in touch with nature. Excellent to watch beautiful sunsets or see the Milky Way at night. Ria and Jeroen really know Crete, and will give valuable tips about the neighboring places. I also highly recommend the breakfasts (had it for 9 days in a row, every day it was a different dish), and the walking tours are really worth it too. You don't get only to see the destination, but also insights about the path, its fauna and flora. Overall an excellent base to have when exploring Crete

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a fantastic week on Crete at Footscapes of Crete. First of all the beautifull surroundings: All around views over mountains and hills and on one side you can see the sea, It is peaceful: All you hear are insects and sheep or goats. Comfortable bungalow that is really equipped with everything you "forgot" to take home with you. Shopping bag (because no plastic), flashlight (for when you come home in the dark) and if you can't finish your bottle of wine at once, you will find a cap in the cutlery drawer.

You can sit in front of the house with a view of the spacious swimming pool and nature in the background. At the back you can see the sea while you snack on the strawberries from the garden.
Furthermore, it is a great base to explore the "real" Crete. You do need your own transport to get there or to do your shopping in the village, but on the other hand you are quite central to explore the island.
