Unfortunately one of her colleagues intervened to show me a lot of things I had no interest in and then insult the jewelry I had on, telling me I “could get it that anywhere” and she “hope[d] it was of good quality” (it is). I was ready to buy at least one if not two pieces, but she literally chased me away. I feel bad for the marvelous woman who greeted me at the beginning. I hope you have a better experience because they certainly have some lovely things!

We were amazed by all the beautiful and elegant hand crafted jewelry and by the precious antiquities used for decoration. The prices are very affordable and the jewelry will immediately catch your attention because it is very different from everything else you will see in the city. Anastasia, the owner, is so lovely, positive and smiley that she will immediately make you feel welcomed and make you feel like you have known her forever. I can say she is one of the kindest people I have ever met in my life and her dog was the cutest! She was so kind that she even helped my mother find her Greek university friend she had lost 30 years ago! The contact and conversations my mother and I had with her were definitely one of the most unforgettable, marking and touching ones during our whole trip to Greece. When you visit Athens, Phos Byzantino should definitely be on your list!

Anyway, every year we enthusiastically visit Fws Byzantino, and most years we buy something for ourselves, or to bring back with us for someone in the States. What's unique about this shop is the quality of the jewelry. When they say something is solid gold or silver, it actually is... I really wish this was the case through out Athens, but unfortunately it's not. We feel very comfortable shopping at Mr. Fotis and Anastasia's shop not only because of the extensive collection, and beautiful custom jewelry made by Mr. Fotis, but mostly because of the honesty of the owners (and more than fair prices :) I would not hesitate in making Fws Byzantino your jewelry store whenever you are in Greece.

I was only looking for a ring, but I was so surrounded by beautiful things that I ended up with 2 rings, a necklace, a bracelet and earrings. I still consider these pieces my most treasured items from Athens. I also met Anastasia, who was just the most delightful person and let me hang around the shop chatting for quite a while. I will return to Φως Βυζαντινό when I am next in Athens.

She will also show you other pieces that aren't in the main cases once she knows what you like. Unique and beautiful pieces worth the price. My daughter and I bought several pieces from her. I purchased a lovely gold and silver ring and matching intricately carved bracelet. To my surprise, my husband found a gorgeous but understated signet gold and silver ring for himself. They jewelry, service and pricing is top notch and we will visit again!
