Great gorge - should only be entered in dry weather! Climbing and surefootedness is required

In the summer the river has dried out and you can take a brisk walk in the desiccated basin. Stability is absolutely a must here and providing enough water is no unnecessary luxury. Beautifully worn out rocks complete the picture. So a must!

Incredible beauty !! The best we have in Taygetos !! I visited it in October, nevertheless it was quite warm, especially during the climb. He definitely wants a mountaineering shoe, he has a lot of stones and of course you have enough water! The route is fantastic, it is good to have a guide or to go with a team. The climb is a bit tedious but the beauty of nature will reward you!

This is a fantastic hike. The round trip (see Komoot) took me almost 3 hours with a half hour break. The distance of the round trip is about 8.5 km - but that doesn't mean very much - see below. Here some precautions you should take: * There is no mobile phone connection in the gorge - so don't go alone! If you fall and get injured in such a way that you cannot continue your walk, and nobody knows where you are, you have a very serious problem. * Wear good hiking booths. * Only go when the gorge is dry and no rain is expected. * Take enough water - even when it is not hot. The hike starts easy through the river bed mostly larger pebbles. After ~ 1,5 km it gets very rocky for ~ 1km. You need to climb frequently. There are some marks for the proposed route - but there are challenging places without any marks. If you are in good shape it is great fun to climb up. If you are in bad shape you will become very exhausted or you will not make it. After the rocky part you reach the actual gorge. It is just amazing. There are enough pictures here - I won't add more showing the same. At some point - still in the gorge - there is a path (with water pipes) to the right which leads out of the gorge. Even the steep climb seems easy after the rocky part in the gorge. Enjoy - it is really worth it

Beautiful hike, breathtaking views. Will re visit and take a different route to the bottom of the gorge as I later found it’s possible.

It was an amazing experience to hike to this location. Some side lines, do make if you want to enjoy it be in rather good physical state. We started from the Church where the path heads down and then we followed the dry bed and the Red markings on the rocks and steps. The rocks will be slippery when it has rained so try to avoid the rain while down. We walked up to the bridge and then walked back up. It took us about 3 hours in total. The Gorge is indeed amazing and as someone else has mentioned it does have spots where you can touch both side when you are in the middle. For nature/hiking lovers this is indeed recommended.
