 We only walked the opening section of Omalos. A nice alternative to reach the Kallergi shelter.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La gola di Samarià presenta elementi di sorpresa e interesse dal punto di vista delle piante e delle particolari conformazioni rocciose. Il sentiero è quasi sempre in discesa e segue il corso del fiume fin dentro al Canyon.
È una passeggiata comunque impegnativa (16 km) su sassi a volte scivolosi e in alcuni tratti sotto il sole perciò consiglio scarpe e abbigliamento adatto.
A intervalli regolari sono stati collocati punti di sosta con acqua corrente e una persona con cavallo pronta per eventuali soccorsi.
The Samarià gorge presents elements of surprise and interest from the point of view of plants and particular rocky conformations. The path is almost always downhill and follows the course of the river right into the Canyon.
However, it is a challenging walk (16 km) on sometimes slippery stones and in some places under the sun so I recommend shoes and suitable clothing.
At regular intervals, rest points were placed with running water and a person with a horse ready for any help.
