★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Magnificent monument- but why is there not more? Modern medicines father doesn't have a pilgrimage for all the medical specialists to go to? Why not? It certainly deserves it! Also Aesclepius clinic is not that far away- if developed- this would be a huge draw for Drs and medical folks!

The tomb of the most famous doctor of the ancient times and father of Medicine is located in Larisa. It was found accidentally after the Pineios river flooded in 1826 and a statue was built by the sculptor Georgios Kalakalas in the honor of Hippocrates opposite the Alcazar Park.
He believed in the natural healing process of rest, a good diet, fresh air and cleanliness. He noted that there were individual differences in the severity of disease symptoms and that some individuals were better able to cope with their disease and illness than others. ?
