Beautiful sculpture ... in a prominent position in the park ... Maybe less careful than it should be by the Municipality but also by the citizens ....
D	Dimitris Black on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο Φιλόλαος Τλούπας, γνωστός διεθνώς ως Philolaos, υπήρξε καλλιτέχνης – γλύπτης παγκοσμίου φήμης και από τους σημαντικότερους Έλληνες καλλιτέχνες στο εξωτερικό. Γεννήθηκε στις 4/3/1923 στη Λάρισα και πέθανε στις 18/9/2010 στο Παρίσι. Ο πατέρας του ήταν επιπλοποιός και ο παππούς του λεβητοποιός (χαλκουργός). Ο Φιλόλαος ήταν αδελφός του σπουδαίου και επίσης καταξιωμένου φωτογράφου, Τάκη Τλούπα. Από παιδί καταπιανόταν και πειραματιζόταν με υλικά και κατασκευές και παρατηρούσε τα αγάλματα στην πόλη του. Έφηβος έφτιαξε την προτομή του Συνταγματάρχη Λιάπκιν (ήρωας μυθιστορήματος του Μ. Καραγάτση και υπαρκτό πρόσωπο της κοινωνίας της Λάρισας). Το 1944 εισήχθη στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών στην Αθήνα. Εκεί σπούδασε γλυπτική και ζωγραφική κοντά στον γλύπτη Μιχάλη Τόμπρο, ενώ το ίδιο διάστημα μαθήτευσε στο εργαστήριο του Θανάση Απάρτη, όπου ανακάλυψε διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις στην τέχνη, καθώς και ένα πνεύμα ελεύθερης σκέψης. Philolaos Tloupas, known internationally as Philolaos, was a world-famous artist-sculptor and one of the most important Greek artists abroad. He was born on 4/3/1923 in Larissa and died on 18/9/2010 in Paris. His father was a furniture maker and his grandfather a boiler maker. Filolaos was the brother of the great and also renowned photographer, Takis Tloupas. As a child he was engaged in experimenting with materials and constructions and observing the statues in his city. As a teenager, he made the bust of Colonel Liapkin (hero of a novel by M. Karagatsis and a real person of the society of Larissa). In 1944 he was admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Athens. There he studied sculpture and painting with the sculptor Michalis Tombros, while at the same time he studied in the workshop of Thanasis Apartis, where he discovered different approaches to art, as well as a spirit of free thought.
