One of the nicest places to stay in Hydra. Truly traditional house at a close distance from the port near to the biggest museum on the island. You can also go easily to the smaller port Kamini. There is also a nice little church near by which was recently restored! Nearby is also the oldest pharmacy of the island. The house is also a historic 0lace itself, as the first pharmacy of the island was there, captain Miaoulis used to drink coffee at the small yard with the owners and I think that one of the French and Russian parties used it as office. If you can find a room there do not hesitate, you will stay at a traditional historic Great House!

Let's start with what went right: - good bed - spacious room + TV room - kitchenette + utensils - nice seating area outside - very quiet - good and affordable restaurants next door Now for what went wrong: - they said to call when we arrived to get help with luggage (the town is hilly and there's no vehicle) which is a bit tacky because other lodgings just wait for their guests to debark from the ferry boat at the port (pretty much the only way to get to Hydra if you don't own your own yacht). But fine. We called. Nobody answered. I finally got a person to come to the port after much trouble (and time wasted, probably 30 min). Everyone else was already gone. - you won't find this place on your own based on the address. To avoid attention, or taxes or the 90 days max rule for AirBnB lodging, they don't have an address, nor a name on the door, nor signs leading to it. All other hotels have signs for finding them easily all over town. Not this place. - forget hospitality. We met a grumpy person annoyed that she had to come get us to "help us with our bags" meaning pretty much leading the way (no actual help). We stopped at a sunglasses shop (!) for passport forms... Then after wandering through winding cobble stone streets for a while, she decided to tell us that after checkout, we could bring our bags back to the sunglasses shop for safe keeping. And BTW, you won't find it on Google maps she said... So we were on our own to find the shop the next day... - no WIFI: to be perfectly fair, there is WIFI. It's just not connected to the Internet for whatever confusing reason they gave us. But hey, they'll fix it the next day! You mean AFTER we check out? Nice. - this is not a hotel. Don't expect a front desk if you have issues or need info. Google lists this as a 4 star hotel. It is not. It's an AirBnB house divided in 3-4 rooms. - no shower curtain. For whatever trendy reason, the shower doesn't have a curtain (or even a glass panel). So I hope you like spraying the entire bathroom and walking on a slippery, wet floor. - one odd one: the TV is mounted on the wall, 7 feet above the floor. Seems like a detail but when you don't have internet, TV is all you're gonna get before bed. Correction, you get a TV AND a sore neck. For $150/night, you'd expect way more.
