★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very long uphill climb, 600 metres up in altitude over 6 km from road to Kalkergis Shelter (takes 1 hour 30 minutes) but views out of this world from the shelter. Views of White Mountains and the whole length of the Samaria Gorge.
You can cold drinks at the shelter from the slightly diffident warden.
