Ο οικισμός φτιάχτηκε για να προστατεύει τους κατοίκους από επιδρομές και επιθέσεις πειρατών. Μέχρι και σήμερα διατηρεί έναν ιδιαίτερο και παραδοσιακό χαρακτήρα που το κάνει ξεχωριστό.
