Koufonisia Hotel & Resort - Koufonisia Town

Rather disappointed from our stay at Hotel Koufonisia. We stayed in a room where the hot water system was broken for the first 3 nights and only the forth and last night of our stay they offered us another room. Not what I would have expected from a so called Resort that costs 120€ per night.

This is not a 4 star "resort". Appreciate that this is island Greece, but our room was awful. Cleaning was terrible, had the previous occupants hair in the shower, and a constant smell of sewerage. Our room backed onto the road, and, albeit infrequent, traffic was noisy through the room. Our shower had the window open to the walkway, and I greeted our neighbours whilst showering. The rooms are poorly insulated, and we could hear everything next door and below. Our phone didn't work. The "2017" updates aren't worth anything, and the interior is dated. There were two single beds,.paid for as a "double". The staff were courtius, and the pool area was nice, but we had to traverse a garden bed with hoses to go from the main building to our room. If you are desperate, use as a last choice.

We stayed there for a week. Rooms are great and spacious. Bed and mattress comfortable. Big pool with view to the town. 3 minute walk from the shops, restaurants and the beach. Parking available. Buffet breakfast was great. One of the biggest - if not the biggest - in Koufonisia. Excellent.

Absolutely beautiful property, gorgeous pool, fabulous friendly staff. Very spacious, easy access to tiny lovely town and beaches. Incredible buffet breakfast; extremely good food for lunches and dinner. Our room was small, but decor and deck made up for that! I loved this hotel and will definitely be going back to sweet Koufo.

A conveniently located hotel with decent rooms. When you drive in, you see that one of their stars was removed. There is a reason for that. While the resort is nice, the rooms are in dire need of maintenance and the cleaning crew may need a refresher on what are acceptable standards of hygiene, especially during the current COVID-19 circumstances. The floors were not clean, the walls in our room had cracks in a lot of places where you can peel the dry wall off, and the bathroom had no toilet paper upon our check-in and the sink in the bathroom was largely clogged and barely drained. The previous guests had left stuff in the room that we came across, so clearly the cleaning crew is not thorough. The most unfortunate part of our stay was our interactions with their driver. While knowing that my wife and I are Expats from the US, and that I work with a UN agency, the driver felt it necessary to comment on his extreme dislike for Americans, Germans, Croatians, and Turks. The driver went on to voice his support for President Trump and how "great" it was that Trump has "destroyed Jews and their control over the banks". He went on to voice his commitment to be in the frontlines of an inevitable war against Turkey and expressed Churchill's view that every 50 years they needed to fight Germany and Turkey. The discriminatory and inflammatory remarks are beyond unacceptable for anyone, especially someone who is welcoming international guests. One good thing that can be said, besides the convenient location, is that the breakfast spread has a lot of options for people and the staff were very friendly at the breakfast area. They will grab a plate and serve you whatever you ask, keeping a distance, using gloves, and preempting each guest from touching the breakfast area. The landscaping in the resort and the pool area are also nice.

Our family recently spent six nights here. The experience was great, starting from the communications back and forth prior to booking. We were greeted warmly by everyone once we arrived. The grounds and staff were great. Both Christina’s, Kosta, Mario and especially Pano went above and beyond to provide us with the best service. The location and rooms were perfect. We had the family suite which met the needs of our family.

Cocktails by Panagiotis were just amazing, great person, interesting personality! The driver was very helpful and kind! The room was small, and it had only one small window. As a result it was too dark and depressing. The listing photos were misleading.

I had to cancel my reservation for August 2020 due to Covid. Under the law, hotel Koufonisia had to give me a voucher for 18 months, after which a consumer can request a refund. I did not have the chance to go so I requested a refund when my voucher expired in September 2021. After sending many emails to which they replied that they have passed on the information to the management, 7 months after the expiry of my voucher they are still withholding my money and are not cooperating with my lawyer. The hotel might only operate in the summer months but they still have legal obligations even when they do not accept bookings. Absolutely unacceptable behavior towards a potential customer.
