Online reservation with extra hidden charges IF YOU DON'T have a credit card. No information about that in the website. They claim the price is final but if you pay with your PayPal or debit card and don't own a debit then, you are going to find yourself in surprise

Bad attitude at the service desk. I booked and paid before arrival but had a problem at providing proper documentation( My IDP was expired). I was willing to take the responsibility and pay the ticket from the police but they just don't want to release the car, and also refund is not possible. At the end I got another from another agency at the downtown despite the expired IDP. (Apparently risk is quite low to get the ticket according to the local agency)

Had an issue with my car rental reservation with another rental firm and ended up searching for car on the very last minute mid July...Luckily the guys managed to find a car for us -we were actually looking for an executive sedan which we thought would be impossible to find on such a short notice. Paperwork took only a few minutes. Would totally recommend Gelasakis Car Rental.

Really un-impressed as made I a reservation months ago, received all the reservation details and even a back up email to say they would be waiting for me on arrival with a sign saying "lets drive". Less than a week before I was meant to arrive I receive an email stating that because I did not apparently confirm the reservation (no where does it say you need to do this) that they have cancelled my reservation. I phoned them straight away to then find out they had no more cars and that they had actually over booked, not because I had not confirmed the reservation. Not the kind of stress you need a couple days before your holiday!

Steer away from Gelasakis if you're looking to rent a car. Liers and unprofessional. I have booked an Automatic Fiat Tipo a week before our holidays, then the day before "all of sudden" the car broke down and after that they were trying to rent me the manual model (which has a less powerful motor), with multiple excuses of why the auto model will not be available. Long story short, i've lost half a day dealing with them, trying to get my money back (they charged of course the fuel - not caring for the whole inconvenience they caused) and find a car from another agency.

During our vacation in crete I rented a car from Let's Drive Car Rental in Chania Port. We got Suzuki Swift with full-covered insurance. We arrived on Sunday very early in the morning at Souda Port. We waited until 7 a.m and the staff from customer service showed up on time. Very much appreciated. She offered us great service and gave us detailed information about the car, the road situation and where to go/what to visit best. All the paper work was done in ca.15~18 minutes, since we were the very first customer at that morning. I had to returned the key, as agreed, at Hearklion port. The service staff in chania gave us previously the contact number of her colleague at Heraklion office. But I hardly could reach the contact number of Heraklion office when I was approaching Hearklion town. I was glad the same lady, the service staff, in Chania Office was very responsive and could get in touch with her colleague at Heraklion office and informed that I would return the car there (just a bit early than planned before). I guessed the office in heraklion just simply closed when it is off-season/in low-demand or when there is not many customers renting the cars. The car was still in a good condition (inside), outside were quite many dents and scratches, but it is still okey. Overall it was still great service and experience though. I can recommend their service (in Chania Port) to anyone who is about to embark a journey around the island.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE GUYS!!!! YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF!!! I reserved and paid for everything online and then when I arrived they told me I needed an international license. My friend ( who lives in Greece) then offered to drive the car for us. Obviously you don’t need an international license if you live in Greece. They simply DID NOT want to rent the car to us. My opinion is that they had double-booked my car and were getting more for it. I did not need insurance bc I am covered by my credit card and also have rental car insurance internationally (which I pay for). That drives the price up and they were not going to make money from me. THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS!!!! And you will note that all the reviews that are 5 Star are people who have Greek last names, so they probably tell people they know to rate and review their company, without having used their services. TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS! We then proceeded to get our car from Kydon. No problems at all, no international license needed but needed to pay a lot more because they would not rent without the insurance. So in the end, it came down to $$$$ as usual. I got a VW POLO for 50 euros daily, asked for GPS and got it for no extra fees, and extra drivers were not charged either. Not bad.
