★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Would highly recommend. This is a great family-run business. I reserved a 300cc scooter by email. Nikos (the brother) was great at answering questions etc. Roula (sister) delivered the scooter to our hotel, and their mum took payment at the desk when I went to pay by credit card. All were very friendly and helpful. The scooter wasn't in pristine condition (minor scratches, broken plastic rear light cover [not the light itself], duck tape holding up the indicator etc), but worked very well and was a pleasure to ride around the island. Having said that, I think they have other newer bikes that are available as well. There are a number of rental places around Platanias with mixed / some negative reviews, but this place is exclusively highly rated, and in my experience I can see why. Will come back here if I'm back in the area in future.
(Ps, the only thing I would add is that you should read the contract you're asked to sign, as certain things are not included in the insurance [e.g., puncturing a tyre if I remember correctly, even if you pay extra for zero excess insurance]. This is standard however, and will be the case wherever you rent in Crete it seems, but it's worth being aware of - it might make you ride more carefully?).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Clear and honest communication from Nikos. He answered my numerous questions by email before the rental and responded quickly also during the rental. BiKE: Vstrom 650 was well maintained despite the higher milage (40k) and worked flawless. The only reccomendation to Lion would be to offer also side panniers option to extend the luggage space of the Vstrom (the top case was 46l).
I also rented a scooter (Piaggio 300 Cabalero) which was in a rather used and beaten condition with over 40k ok the clock and did not inspire too much confidence when driving. For that bike I would not give more than *** out of five stars.
