★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the place you must visit when you are in the area. Here you can buy local quality products. Barbara and Arno (the owners) also arrange walk’s in the area,with and without donkeys. You can also stop by just for some good advice.

Owners also make "Botanical walks with donkeys" guided tours where secrets of natural herbs are revealed by Arno.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mandali is for sure the right place if you are looking for local products and souvenirs. But it is actually more than just "a place".
Here you find lovely Barbara and Arno, who are bassically "community glue".
Amoung tours and activities, special highlights: walking with the donkeys and visit to the cazani.
Just pass by, you will find for sure a nice gift, special souvenir, precious information and above all, friendly company.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great little shop selling a variety of local produce tucked away in the village above the lake. Well worth a stop to pick up a few high quality supplies, a few presents and to get some tips on what to see in the area. Good value and great to see the area being supported in this way. Didn't get chance to do the walk, but I really want to know what's behind those mountains.... one day. The neighbouring tavernas also look inviting and if I had more time I'd have nipped in for lunch. I can however, vouch for the bakery over the road, super fresh bread.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Possibly the best shop we visited while in Crete - we only managed to get there quite late, at 4pm on the dot when Google says the shop is meant to close, but the owner was still there and came out to greet us, gave us a fabulous free tasting of the three different olive oils the shop sells, all locally sourced and produced, and spent time talking us through the tastes and all of the other goods in the shop. Absolute expert knowledge! Even the wild oregano is expertly picked (apparently before 7am, while the area is still in shade, before the sun has had a chance to leech out the best flavours!). Was very impressed and would certainly recommend - bought far more than intended and worth every penny (cent)! Thank you!!
