Maryloujohn Villas Studios & Apartments - Nik. Nomikou

Positive: Our ferry arrived at Santorini at midnight. John is so kind to offer us really early check in so we can take a shower after the tiring overnight ferry ride. John welcomed us passionately with Greek coffee and glasses of Santorini-made wine (Vinsanto). Soooo amazing! The room is clean and lovely; there are different types of couches on the balcony where we comfortably enjoyed the ocean view, sunset, and the night view of Santorini with a sip of wine. ;D After check out, we are allowed to store our luggage at the hotel for free. :) Perfect accommodation!.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Maryloujohn Villas in Santorini in August 2021. The photos are deceiving as you are led to believe the outdoor lounge area is a private space when in fact it is shared. The jacuzzi can be used, although at an extra cost. Upon leaving the Airbnb we were accused of 'breaking' his cement stools in the shared outdoor space. The host (John) yelled at us, and insisted we paid for the damages, of something we did not break. I asked John to see the cameras to prove that we did nothing wrong in this situation, he claimed the 'cameras are his eyes' and then later mentioned he was actually asleep. We got out of this airbnb as fast as we could, the neighboring guests, restaurants and hotel hosts came to see if we were alright after the accusations. We paid A LOT of money to stay at this Airbnb and I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, as the host is not someone you want to deal with. Santorini is beautiful, there is lots to see and do. I encourage you to look around at other hotels and Airbnb's before booking this one.

We stayed here with my wife and I am sad to say that it left us with a bitter taste. I read the previous comments from other people that stayed at this place about the hosts behavior but since we were booking last moment, we had not many choices and the location of this place is great, I decided to book anyways.I was also kind of hopping that they were all complaining about a staff member that hopefully would be fired by then. The man who was one of the hosts and the owner, that apparently people were writing in their reviews about, smelled of alcohol 2 out of 3 times we met and was rude and arrogant. The girl host was pretty nice and polite , hence the 2 stars. I had been to Santorini before and I know that it can get quite expensive during their peak season , so I was OK with overpaying a bit for what i would get.This was though not worth it just because of the attitude of the host which ruined our mood a couple of times. It is a shame that a young person like him that get this great opportunity in life to be so entitled.He is still young and he will learn , I really hope that for him.

We really loved the character of MaryLou John Hotel, The Location is fantastic with super friendly staff and beautifully clean rooms. Such a majestic Atmosphere... And comfortable because Everything's so close within a walking distance! Can't wait to come again and enjoy our accommodation cause it feels like home there! Thanks to John! You're amazing ! Cannot recommend John’s place enough. First and foremost, this is a family run business. We were very happy to find a small business not just another resort company. John is not only a phenomenal host, but also a truly wonderful person. At every turn during our trip John was there to assist. Our room was exactly as described and more! The room was essentially our own private honeymoon sweet with no shared walls. Very clean and the view was to die for. You can not get a better location on the main strip but far enough away to avoid all of the extra noise. 10/5 stars for John and his amazing resort. Thank you for making our honeymoon so special!

Honest summary: STAYING AT THIS PLACE CAUSED ME GREAT STRESS - Nice apartment, bad customer attention (and an owner that is yelling and swearing at guests). REVIEW: I stayed at MaryIoujohn villa in apartment no. 6 from 13/04/2022 to 15/04/2022 (just in case the owner decides to say I'm also fake, like he did in the other negative reviews). FIRST, ABOUT THE PLACE: clean, newly renovated, has three cosy common areas (as seen in pictures),a very nice view over the cliff and the sea, it located in the main street of Oia, and is surrounded by bars, and restaurants. The room and the bathroom were a bit on the smaller side for me. NOW, ABOUT THE CUSTOMER TREATMENT: At first, the owner seemed okay. FIRST RED FLAG: he asked for 150 euros deposit. I somehow tried to understand, as the place seems freshly renovated. However, in more than 50 bookings, this was the first time someone asked for a deposit. SECOND RED FLAG: the only way I could iron my clothes was by going to the reception (as he said he doesn't allow guests to take the clothes iron in the room). Again, it was the first time it happened to me. NEXT DAY, at 10:30, the cleaning woman knocks the door very loudly to ask about cleaning the room, and I ACCIDENTALLY BROKE A WATER GLASS that was on the night-table, next to my bed, because I was sleeping when she knocked. The third day, at CHECKOUT (8:30), the cleaning woman looked like she was already waiting for me to go. She CHECKED THE STATE OF EVERY SINGLE ITEM IN THE ROOM (I'm not joking) and I told her about the broken water glass. Now, the DRAMA BEGAN. She informed the reception by walkie-talkie, and when I wanted to leave the key, the owner WANTED TO CHARGE 20 EUROS for the broken glass of water. I refused to pay more than 5 euros (I should not have offered even that, as the listing was almost 200 euros), and he started to YELL AND SAY A LOT OF BAD GREEK WORDS TO ME (which I could obviously not understand). I got nervous and warned him I will call the police and the booking website if he tries to charge me 20 euros for a broken water glass. As soon as he heard that I will complain in the review, he agreed not to charge me (I did not pay). Even though I said it's fine, IT IS NOT! IT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE THAT HOSTS YELL AND TALK BAD WORDS AT CUSTOMERS. Therefore, if you want to rent this place, take care of everything inside like you never did in your life, to avoid this type of unpleasant situations. TO THE OWNER: Follow the rest of the existent accommodations and do not even consider trying to charge people again for broken glasses, plates, etc. Also, it is imperative that you stop treating people like they want to destroy your property, and NEVER RAISE YOUR TONE TO YOUR GUESTS AGAIN. Finally, you and the cleaning women should smile more often. I, personally, expected to be greeted with the smile all the time when travelling to such a touristic island like Santorini.

John was absolutely amazing! He was always there and super helpful with everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for better service, location and views. The other one-star reviews are definitely targeted slander and fake. The porches offer stunning views and everything you need is within walking distance. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Santorini.

Beautiful location right at the entrance of Oia for easy transportation and easy access to the stunning paths of the village. John was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE from the first moment through our entire stay, helpful in every way and so accommodating. The room was exactly as advertised and more. Would highly recommend Some of the one star reviews are very obviously fake (All written by the same account) and couldn't be further from the truth.
