I wish there was more. It's such a rich history and great site. I was able to put my feet in one of the hot springs and walk to all three gates. Loved the statue. We drove 4 hours out of our way. No museum, shop, or even a gas station but it's easy to find and see the battlefield.

ATTENTION: beware of thiefes who break into cars! Don't leave any valuables in your car! We were robbed and it was serious damage on the car! Besodes that, it's a very cool and interesting sight!

This is the spot where 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians decided to defeat hundred thousand Persians under the command of king xerxes or die defending their country. There is 2 monuments on the site and a little Museum, one monument is dedicated to king Leonidas and his 300 Spartans, the other to the 700 Thespians that fell in war.

I knew that it would not be like it was when he made his sacrifice for his people. I am glad that I got to see the area where he and the 300 stood for freedom!

The place is curious one if you are interested in the ancient Greek history. I really loved the 3D movie about the battle between the Spartans and the Persians... I never imagined how it was since I watched the movie and felt the spirit of the time...

A great monument for one of the most important event for whole Europe's history. Stop for a moment to feel the aura and the atmosphere. Visit the information center on the right and watch the 3D movies dedicated to the 3 days fight. Cross the road and visit the information museum around the hill. Let Konstantinos describe and explain the historical events that took place there.

As a history lover I was excited to visit Thermopylae. I have read the history and we had a great guide who translated the Greek inscriptions and explained Ho the battlefield looked (different to today). Unfortunately the area is pretty run down apart from the actual memorial so this is a short visit only.

Off the main road at the base of the majestic mountains is the important memorial to Leonidas (Lee-O-knee-das), his warriors, and the Thespians. A tribute to their strength, everything they put in to becoming the warriors they are, and what they were protecting. It may seem like a lonely, not well kept memorial, and yes it deserves way more then what it is currently. But despite that, stop. You won't regret it.
