 This sacred place, this place where one of the most famous battles of all time took place, made it a place for investors to camp !! Shame!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο Σιμωνίδης ο Κείος, μετά τη μάχη, έγραψε ένα από τα πιο γνωστά επιγράμματα. Το επίγραμμα λέγει τα πάρακατω (σύμφωνα με τον Ηρόδοτο):
Ὦ ξεῖν', ἀγγέλλειν Λακεδαιμονίοις ὅτι τῇδεκείμεθα, τοῖς κείνων ῥήμασι πειθόμενοι.
Ω ξένε, ανάγγειλε στους Λακεδαιμόνιους ότι εδώταφήκαμε, υπακούοντας στα προστάγματά τους.
Simonides Kieos, after the battle, wrote one of the most famous epigrams. The inscription says the following (according to Herodotus):
'Out,' said the Lacedaemonians, we accept that they are very persuasive.
Oh, he announced to the Lacedaemonians that we had arrived here, obeying their constitutions.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're a fan of History, Sparta or simply the 300 movie this is a place you got to visit. Be warned though: Not much is left (or at all). A recent billboard explains where and how the battle took place. This will help you visualize what happened and get a good grasp of how Leonidas and his men stood up against the Persians!
