K	Konstantinos Anagnostou on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η Ιερά Μονή του Αγίου Νικολάου Στρατηγοπούλου ή Ντίλιου είναι χτισμένη στη βορειοανατολική πλευρά του Νησιού, κοντά στην Ιερά Μονή των Φιλανθρωπηνών. Η Ιερά Μονή Στρατηγοπούλου ιδρύθηκε πιθανώς το 13ο αιώνα από την ομώνυμη Βυζαντινή οικογένεια, η οποία εγκαταστάθηκε στα Ιωάννινα το 1204, μετά την κατάληψη της Κωνσταντινούπολης από τους Φράγκους της Δ΄ Σταυροφορίας, όπως και η οικογένεια των Φιλανθρωπηνών. Για την Ιερά Μονή δεν υπάρχουν σημαντικές πληροφορίες. Στα μέσα του 16ου αιώνα δημιουργήθηκαν οι τοιχογραφίες του Καθολικού, με δαπάνη των Ιερομονάχων Νήφωνος και Σωφρονίου. Το 17ο αιώνα το μοναστήρι ευεργετήθηκε από την οικογένεια Ντίλιου, στην οποία οφείλεται η δεύτερη επωνυμία του. Σύμφωνα με μια παράδοση, στην Ιερά Μονή λειτουργούσε η περίφημη Σχολή των Δεσποτών. Οι τοιχογραφίες της αποτελούν εξαίρετο έργο αγνώστου καλλιτέχνη. Οι παραστάσεις κατανέμονται σε τρεις ζώνες και φέρουν πλαίσια με κόκκινο χρώμα, κατά το σύστημα αγιογράφησης των ζωγράφων της Κρητικής Σχολής. Εντυπωσιακή είναι η σκηνή της Σταύρωσης στο αέτωμα που διαμορφώνει η στέγη στη δυτική πλευρά. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται στις σκηνές των Παθών του Κυρίου. Ολόκληρο τον ανατολικό τοίχο του νάρθηκα καταλαμβάνει η σύνθεση της Δευτέρας Παρουσίας. Η σκηνή είναι πολυπρόσωπη και μνημειακή. Στο βόρειο, το νότιο και το δυτικό τοίχο του νάρθηκα υπάρχουν 28 σκηνές από τη ζωή της Παναγίας και ιδιαίτερα από την παιδική της ηλικία. The Holy Monastery of Saint Nicholas Stratopoulou or Diliou is built on the northeast side of the Island, near the Monastery of the Philanthropists. The composition of the Second Coming occupies the entire eastern wall of the narthex. The scene is multifaceted and monumental. In the north, south and west walls of the narthex there are 28 scenes from the life of Our Lady and especially from her childhood.

Sie vermitteln einen sinnlichen Eindruck der griechisch orthodoxen Geschichte, oft unter fremder Herrschaft, und damit ein düsteres Bild des Glaubens als Leiden und Entbehrung. Die Wände zieren häufig recht explizite Bilder von Folterszenen an christlichen Märtyrern. Wenn man sich vorstellt, dass durch die Jahrhunderte auf dieser Insel Mönche zwischen solchen Bildern fast ohne Außenkontakt gelebt haben und ihr Weltbild geformt haben! Muss eine ziemlich spezielle Erfahrung und Grundstimmung gewesen sein. Aufgrund dieser Bilder für zarte Kinderseelen eher ungeeignet. The monasteries on the island, especially this one, are definitely worth a visit. They convey a sensual impression of Greek Orthodox history, often under foreign rule, and thus a gloomy picture of faith as suffering and privation. The walls are often decorated with quite explicit pictures of scenes of torture against Christian martyrs. If you imagine that through the centuries on this island monks lived between such images with almost no external contact and shaped their worldview! Must have been quite a special experience and mood. Due to these pictures, it is rather unsuitable for delicate children's souls.

It is the monastery next to the Philanthropic Monastery, dedicated to Saint Nicholas and named after Diliou Stratopoulou one of its benefactors. Unfortunately it is closed by order of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina.
