perfect stay - attentive and professional staff (Evie!), minimalistic and modern interior, wonderful location

Stayed at the hotel one night (Junior Suite & didn't use restaurant): Pros: -Staff were wonderful and very Friendly/helpful -High spec rooms -Private Plunge Pool -Sauna/steam room access at no additional cost Cons: -For us we spent €300+ euros on the room and to make it value for money you have to knock off at least €100 euros. We stayed at a 5* hotel in Chania for half the price. -Rooms are North facing so no sun after 3pm (when you're most likely to use it) Although there is a view across a side of the valley the epic white mountains & main valley views are sadly out of sight from room. -We didn't have breakfast included, the only place in crete over 3 weeks which didn't include it and the most expensive by far.

Great hotel, amazing peacefulness to wind down for a few days! We really enjoyed our stay, the little hikes and the private Pool after! We did not try the sauna - maybe next year … :)

Lovely hotel with an extraordinary service. The room (premium retreat) is beautiful and cosy. In room Breakfast is nice. Location is good, in a tiny village in front of beautiful mountains, 10 minutes drive from Sougia, nice village by the sea with great restaurants and chill atmosphere. Will definitely recommend this hotel for travelers who wish to get some different experience of the island.

Deserves the ratings. Just spent 4 nights and missing it already. Spectacular all the way round. And the staff are just too perfect.

Monastery Estate is a special hotel for many reasons. The first reason is its amazing staff. The hotel managers, Natali and Georgia, are outstanding professionals who are truly responsive to customer requests. Their friendliness and superb local knowledge allow naive travellers to truly get to grips with south west Crete. The porter Dennis and barman Stefanos are extremely welcoming. The chef uses local ingredients with wonderful results. The fried goats cheese and lamb are stunningly simple but delicious dishes. The retreat is very secluded with only a handful of rooms which makes for a very peaceful place. The rooms are fantastic. The last reason is its breathtaking location in the moutains. This setting is unforgettable and can truly be described as an escape. The winding roads along the moutains of south west Crete provide an exhilarating drive to this fantastic destination retreat. Beautiful olive trees grace the mountainside along with many goats and sheep. There are numerous gorgeous beaches relatively close to the hotel like Lissos, Kedrodasas and Elafonissi. There are wonderful hiking opportunities close to the hotel like the Samaria gorge and Agia Irini gorge.

This is the perfect resort to relax and have some couple time / privacy. My wife and I visited the resort during our honeymoon in June 2022. We stayed for two nights. It's more expensive than other hotels but totally worth it! The area is really quite and you only hear the birds, crickets and the soft wind. The Monastery team arround Evi and Georgina is super friendly, attentive and helpful! Super service! The building and rooms have nice minimalistic architecture and interior. The bed is super comfy, the pool refreshing and clean and except of the bath everything is spacious. For those who don't want to eat in the resort there is a little tavern close by with good and fairly priced food and friendly hosts! Also Sougia offers a good choice. The beach of Sougia is just a 10min. drive away with the deep blue Libyan sea! And if you like you can hike the Agia Irini or Samaria gorge or go to Lissos. We really enjoyed our stay and will come back for sure!

This place is amazing! Even better than the photos reflect because they can’t catch the kindness of the staff and the peacefulness of the location. The rooms are amazing, the view is breathtaking and the sauna is a real treat. Besides the location is perfect for the travelers who like hiking as there are plenty of paths starting near. The only negative point I can think about for our whole stay is the restaurant. The service was irreproachable and even beyond. But the cuisine wasn’t as good as I would have expected for a restaurant of this quality, and it was a bit expensive given the quality of the food. I will definitely book this place if I ever travel to Crete again, it’s a must do!
