Κανακάκη. Κάτω από το μνημείο υπάρχει υπόγειο οστεοφυλάκιο, όπου φυλάσσονται λείψανα Ηρακλειωτών πολεμιστών που έχασαν τη ζωή τους στη Μάχη της Κρήτης ή στον πόλεμο του 1940. Το μνημείο για τη Μάχη της Κρήτης με το Αγαλμα της Ελευθερίας και τα 2 κανόνια μπροστά του, στολίζει το Ηράκλειο και αξίζει να το επισκεφθείτε. The monument of the Battle of Crete was built in 1979. It is best known in Heraklion as "Statue of Liberty", designed by G. Kanakakis. Underneath the monument there is an underground ossuary containing the remains of Heraklion warriors who died in the Battle of Crete or in the 1940 war. The monument to the Battle of Crete with the Statue of Liberty and the 2 canons in front of it, adorns Heraklion and is worth a visit.

Ειναι ντροπη για τους δημάρχους να αφηνουν τα κοκαλα να πλεουν σταν νερά The monument needs maintenance and respect for the bones below it. Αποτελεί το δεύτερο μεγαλύτερο ολοκαύτωμα μετά αυτο των Καλαβρύτων με 461 νεκρούς. Το μνημείο υπέροχο αλλά και το Μουσείο δυνατό και συγκινησιακό. (Βρίσκεται Δίπλα στο μνημείο) Ενας τόπος που πρέπει να πάτε. Αποτελεί τόπο τιμής ΥΓ. Στο Μουσείο να δείτε την προβολή (15λεπτά). Είναι must.. I felt shame I did not know. But also shame for my teachers who did not tell me. It is the second largest holocaust after Kalavrita with 461 dead. The monument is wonderful and the Museum is strong and emotional.
