Gives helpful and clear overview of recent history in Macedonia for a visitor . Presented well with audio and visual material. Plus the helpful English translation meant we could understand something of the region's political history not just its ancient history.

A detailed explanation of 150 years of struggle to assert Macedonian identity. Definitely one for historians out there, less interesting to casual visitors. We'll displayed with lots of explanation in English and a couple of informative videos. It's Balkan history so prepare to be confused as much as enlightened.

Such an amazing place to be to learn a little about Macedonian history! The admission price is very low and you get to choose to go on a guided tour for free! There are not a lot of texts to read in the museum itself, so I highly recommend to go with a free guided tour. Free guided tour runs frequently, and it runs even if there is only one person on the hour (which is the case for me!) Don't expect western standard kind of museum but the effort of the guide and staff and in making those figurines in the exhibition are still pretty impressive. Guided tour lasted approximately an hour.

An easily accessible museum in the city centre that demonstrates nicely the history of Macedonia becoming free. Very good idea to spend an hour there, if you are interested in the history of Thessaloniki and Macedonia. Nice and polite staff.

Small museum which attempts to explain Macedonia's convoluted history from a Greek perspective. Not really that interesting nor worth the €4 admission, in my view. For the same money, you can pay for an obligatory drink for a "free" cruise in the Thermaic Gulf at the White Tower nearby. Much more enjoyable.

Informative museum which covers period of Greek history from around 1820's to today over 7 rooms. There is displays in Greek and English along with a lot of old items and some dioramas. It isn't what you would call neutral and had a definite perspective but as long as you keep that in mind it is worth checking out.

A must place to visit at Salonika, Macedonia, Greece, in order to come into contact with the struggle of Greeks against different Balkan tribes.

The Macedonian struggle museum mainly covers the period 1903-1908, when the Greek population of the then ottoman Macedonia fought against Bulgarian forces of the era, who performed atrocities against the Greeks. It is one of Thessaloniki's best historical museum, located very centrally, opposite of the city cathedral, in agias sofias-proxenou koromila street. The building itself is also part of the local history, as it used to be the greek consulate at the beginning of the 20th century. You can see collections of medals, swords, uniforms and weapons of the era, as well as documents and photos. Ticket is just 2€.
