An interesting example of an early 30th century Orthodox Church that carries the holy remains of St. Gregory Palamas, one of the most important theoreticians of the Orthodox Church

The relics of Our Father Among the Saints, Saint Gregory Palamas are kept here and can be venerated when the church is open. They are located in a side chapel to the left as you enter. If the door is shut, ask one of the church workers to open it for you so you can go in with appropriate reverence. The effusion of Divine Grace from this spiritual giant has to be felt to be believed, and stands as Heavenly proof of the falsehood of the doctrines of the papal religion (in particular the notion that the Grace we experience is created, and that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Son in essence) against which the Saint was so outspoken.

A lovely Byzantine style church in the city centre. Entry is free, of course, as in all churches in Greece. Quite well decorated with icons and wall paintings. Most importantly it holds the relics of Agios Grigorios Palamas, after whom it is named. Palamas was a monk and later archbishop of Thessaloniki. He was a very strong defender of the Orthodox faith. He was made a saint after his death. The church is on a site which dates back to the 13th century, but the building has undergone several reconstructions following times of damage etc. Worth a visit.
