The thrill of walking up to the lion gate will be hard to match.

Very interesting, you have to drive up a narrow road, and then walk up a very long hill to get to the site, and once there, you have lots of up and down walking to do. But very peaceful and a fantastic view from the top. Historical site and no cost to visit.

Wonderful setting with spectacular views. The remains are extensive but due to earthquake and ravages of time all that is left are low walls. Free to visit and there are some info points in Englush.

As your focus will likely be Mycenae and Tiryns, you are most likely to miss this site, in the middle of nowhere and a little difficult to reach. But the site is well-worth the effort, as the view from the acropolis is outstanding, the hill being higher than that of Mycenae and Tiryns. Some of the Cyclopean wall is preserved.

Great place for all archeo lovers. It was one of the largest and best preserved Mycenaean citadels. Free entrance

A very interesting site for all lovers of Mycenaean archaeology, although it’s remains are not as impressive as Tiryns and Mycenae, and not much of its history is known. The great thing about Midea is that there is a good chance that you have the site all for yourself when you visit it, and you can enjoy the view undisrupted by masses of tourists. But put on your hiking shoes, it is quite a climb. And if you’re in Midea, don’t forget to visit The Mycenaean gravesite in Dendra.

Loved to see where the Mycenaean lived and ruled. Beautiful place full of energy. The lions gate is really something to see.

Midea is a large Mycenaean-era palace/fortress complex comparable to Mycenae and Tiryns in many ways, but with very little reconstruction. It's built on a number of terraces on a mountaintop and well marked with interpretive markers, but is also spread out and up, so be prepared for some hiking. The paths are less defined than the other Mycenaean sites so be prepared to walk through some brush. Very little is roped off. We were the only people there when we visited. Very cool site!
