★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η ντάπια του Φραγκλίνου ή αλλιώς η ντάπια ντεριμπιλε ή ελλινιστί η τρομερή ντάπια. Ως ντάπια εννοούμε τον χώρο που είναι τοποθετημένο το κανόνι καθώς και ο περιβάλλοντος χώρος. Η ντάπια αυτή λεγόταν και τρομερή επειδή είχε το μεγαλύτερο κανόνι του Μεσολογγίου και για όσους γνωρίζουν και θυμούνται ο ύμνος την ελευθερία ο εθνικός μας υμνος δηλαδή γράφτηκε από τον Διονύσιο Σολωμό στην Ζάκυνθο ο οποίος τον εμπνεύστηκε ακουγωντας τα κανόνια του Μεσολογγίου και συγκεκριμένα από περιγραφές του χρόνου που μεσολαβούσε από κανονια με κανονια ιστορικοί αναφέρουν πως άκουγε την συγκεκριμένη ντάπια.
Στο Μεσολόγγι υπηρχε σομοθεσια σύμφωνα με την οποία 100 μέτρα πέριξ του κήπου ηρώων του τείχους και της νταπιας του Φραγκλίνου απαγορεύεται να χτίσθει οποιοδήποτε οίκημα...
Αυτό παραβιάστηκε κατά κωρον και πλέον η ντάπια αυτή η οποία δεν είχε περιληφθεί να κλεισθει εντός του ανακατασκευασμένου τείχους περικυκλώθηκε από πολυκατοικίες τα τελευταία χρόνια με αποτέλεσμα σχεδόν να μην είναι ευδιάκριτη. παλιότερα πάντοτε στην είσοδο του περιστοιχισμενου χώρου που την περιέβαλε υπήρχε ελληνική σημαιοου προιδεαζε κάθε περαστικό ότι στο σημείο αυτό υπήρχε μνημείο αλά δυστυχώς αφαιρέθηκε και αυτή....
