Olympic Palladium Hotel - Moatsou 42

We picked this hotel in Rehtymnon as base for visiting Crete, we are satisfied with the stay even though marvelous Crete would need not just one but a couple of bases at least. Centrally located in Rethymnon, it's easy to reach by car or public transport either from Chania or Heraklion, parking isn't a issue even on peak season but, unfortunately the hotel doesn't have a dedicated parking. The lobby is an open space shared with the bar and the dining room, the free wi-fi can be used only in the lobby that luckily we never found overcrowded, the signal is strong enough to let you browse sitting outside the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful, since we arrived pretty late they prepared a cold but tasty dinner in our room. On departure day, we could store our luggage and have a shower in a dedicated room downstairs. Rooms aren't huge but nicely decorated, the bathroom was also nice even though our bathtub was fitted with the infamous curtain, the balcony had a couple of chairs to chill a bit after an intense day enjoying the wonderful Cretan beaches. The breakfast and dinner buffet was ok, enough choices for every taste, maybe a little too repetitive. Being in the center of a nice village may help after a full day driving on the bumpy roads of Crete, there are plenty of nice shops and restaurants to visit. If you don't have a car or don't feel like driving for a day, you can check Rethymnon beach, it's an ordinary beach and beds&umbrella costs 10 euros instead of 5 in much more beautiful spots of the island.

Hotel very well located. 5min walk to the historic city centre and 12min to the fortress/sea front. Spacious big room with a free baby cot for our 6 months old baby. Amazing breakfast buffet. Nice view from the roof terrace. Small swimming pool to cool off (perfect with a baby!). Went at the end of October and it was great value for money! Highly recommend it.

Excellent staff but the air-conditioning was totally unpleasant. Especially with such a hot weather a good air-conditioning is always a must. fully disappointed by that factor

A good town hotel, varied mixed breakfast menu. Multi national guests. Very central. Small dipping pool. I don't think this location is for families with energetic toddlers. It's clean tidy, daily room service with linen changes every couple days. Staff very pleasant happy people.

Nice hotel. Rooms are quite "tired" but service is good. Breakfast be are great - big portions size, good veriatty.

In retrospect of my stay at this decently rated hotel, I was deeply disturbed by the provided services. The towels had brown stains on them, the sheets had drips of blood, the air conditioning caught on fire, the showers released brown liquids from the drains, as these are only a few of the many problems I encountered. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel for my worst of enemies as this was hell, but the chocolate croissants for breakfast made up for some of the major issues I survived through.
