Paralos Irini Mare - Agia Galini

In an information note they asked parents to serve their children at the table instead of having children at the buffet due to covid. Reality is: children touching the food at the buffet and coughing over the food. Staff is observing the situation, but they dont do anything. Thats disgusting. Food is below standards: hot meals are not really warm and everything is totally overcooked. I know thats kinda “normal” for buffet-food but this was not our cup of tea. But l must add, the live cooking was outstanding and tasty. There was a family with a baby and the baby was with a nappy in the adults pool - no comment. Our a/c brook down and the room was flooded with water and the humidity and temperature was beyond nice. It can happen yes, but it took them 4-5 hrs trying to fix it and 4-5 calls from our side cos they always said “its fixed now”, but it wasnt. As l said it can happen and l understand but finally at 23pm they gave us hours later a new room with an upgrade. They handled they whole situation totally wrong and unprofessional. Overall: not what u can expect from a 4 star hotel. Please dont spend your money there, guess u ll find better places in the area and we were super glad that we just stayed for 2 nights and moved on and said to that place “never c u again”. Please note: the lady at the reception (I forgot her name), she was always very nice and polite but doesnt change the facts l mention above. There was also a very nice staff in the restaurant (blond girl, l forgot her name) and she was also super nice and friendly. The rooms are clean. They also wrote me an email after departure with apologises and yes they tried to improve things but from a hotel in that range u can expect they r offering a good standard and services from the beginning and not after u have to complain several times.

A place to call home! Two weeks ago we visited Agia Galini, south Rethmimno. Agia Galini is close to Heraklion and the road betwen them is brand new! We chose Irini Mare Hotel, as it looks really beautiful through the photos. We have to admit that in reality Irini Mare Hotel is even better! The hotel is very clean, well structured, like a tiny village, well decorated and blossom! All these plants and flowers, like heaven on earth! The view from our suite was amazing! In front of us lies the cretan deep and clear blue sea and among us the beautifully almost desert cretan mountains! The staff was tactful, friendly and always ready to serve our wishes! The food was delicious and made with local ingredients which gave the strong impression of freshness. I single out the marmalade made from the hotel’s oranges! Although we liked and the multi cultural choises of the sweets! The best pavlova we have ever tried! We enjoyed cocktails by the pool and we felt cozy there from the very first moment. Tip! We really appreciate the way they behaved the local stray cats!

Amazing stay at a wonderful hotel!!! Words can not describe how much we enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel. Modern facilities, friendly staff, amazing atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food. We are so looking forward to visiting this hotel again sometime soon :)

We (my girlfriend and I) had an amazing three-day accommodation. It is the right place to relax, enjoy the cretan sun and get rid of the daily worries. Great hospitality! No photos can describe this sense. Irini mare' s team is so kind and friendly making the beautiful hotel enviroment even more charming. Amazing food! Really really delicious, great variety of food! That was the first time we visited Irini mare but was not the last one, definitely!!

I visited Irini mare's hotel 1 week ago and i am excited! The room was very clean and convinient and the staff was very heplfull and friedly. The food also, was delicious and for all tastes. Nevertheless, Irini mare hotel is the best place for relaxation, we enjoyed our mornings under the trees and our afternoons near the swimming pool! Finally, we looking forward to visiting this place again next year!

We had a great vacation here! Overall, I can wholeheartedly recommend this place for a "mixed" vacation (active days exploring the island, occasional "break days" just on site now and then). We stayed as a couple in our early 40s. I wouldn't recommend for an "All Inclusive Club Style" vacation - that's just not what it is. Especially for kids who are old enough to require activities and peers, there are probably more lively places. I very much liked it a bit calmer, though. In general, guests were very healthily mixed - young couples, families with children of all ages, elderlies. Mostly German customers, a few Brits and Scandinavians when we were there. Basically, everything was as advertised on the hotel website - a few words on the most important aspects: 1. Room We had a Sea View Junior Suite with private pool (which I can highly recommend). The room was super clean, modern, had all amenities you'd expect (fridge, extra towels on request, pillow menu(!), A/C etc.). Due to the clever way they built it, there is a guarantee for no noise from the neighbours left or right. The private pool was also very clean and a fantastic feature. 2. Staff Everyone was nice, polite, helpful. English and German are well understood. Nothing to complain. For the rooms further away from reception, they have a golf cart and carry your luggage for you. 3. Facilities Community pools were great, we always found a sunbed (post-main season, though). They offer a very few activities, the only thing we used was the massage, though - well worth it, try it! Everything was kept clean and functioning all the time. 4. Restaurant It's buffet style, with two "life cooking" pods. Food quality was good - pretty much what I expected for four stars and buffet style, the life cooking offers changed every day and were a nice variety. Breakfast offers a lot of choice and seemed fresh and good quality. We used the restaurant for breakfast every day and half of the days for dinner - there are many nice taverns in town where you get affordable and a bit more sophisticated dinner. 5. Town I really liked the town. Not too big and crowded, not too small, very cozy. Enough restaurants, taverns, shops of different flavours, quite affordable price levels. The beach isn't too exciting, but good enough for a few hours on days you don't want to drive anywhere. Rental car strongly advised, though! To get there, it's a few minutes food walk. 6. Area in general Most touristic life on Crete is happening on the north coast, so be aware some driving is needed for many things. This area in the south is not too lively, however, e.g. Matala is a great place with a nice sandy beach and quite close by car. We very much enjoyed it to stay in a slightly calmer area. 7. Weather We stayed in late September, and next time, I would probably go two weeks earlier. At our time, the weather changed, and the last few days were very windy, which is typical for this area and time of the year. It was still warm and sunny, but not really beach weather anymore.

I have been hosted in "Irini Mare Hotel" three times !! Every winter when I am planning my holidays,what comes first in my mind is Crete and of course Irini Mare Hotel!! The feeling of laying under the shadow of olive trees, between the swimming pools is unique..The rooms are very comfortable!The hospitality from the owners and the employees makes you feel like prince/princess! I can't wait to taste again the delicious dishes, all made with organic products from Crete! Irini mare hotel is the best place to be for holidays!!!

The grounds of the hotel are absolutely beautiful and breath taking, and the gardens beautifully maintained. We had the sea view room which didn’t disappoint - a beautiful view over Agia Galini! We also liked that the hotel was a bit removed from the busy tourist beach, but still easy walk to everything. Room was clean, new, nicely decorated and the bed was super comfortable. All throughout our stay we received impeccable and friendly service. Breakfast had a nice variety. Only thing I would have hoped is more service during the day in the pool area - the servers did maybe one or two rounds during the day to bring menus or ask for drink orders. You can walk to the bar to order but I think they’d get much more orders by being more active. We didn’t buy the dinners - there are plenty of nice places around to go to instead of the hotel buffet. Especially the taverna in the neighboring camp site, Taverna Kipos was excellent in both atmosphere and quality of food.
