Αξιζει να το επισκεφθειτε ολες τις εποχες του χρονου ειναι μολις 25 λεπτα απο την Πατρα ! Very beautiful dam and lake, one of the most important works in the area in the last 5 years! Α	Αλεξανδρος Ρεντζης on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η ιδέα για την κατασκευή αυτού του μεγαλεπήβολου φράγματος ήρθε στο προσκήνιο για πρώτη φορά το 1963 από τον Γεώργιο Παπανδρέου. Δημοπρατήθηκε το 2005 και η κατασκευή του ξεκίνησε το 2006 από την Μηχανική Α.Ε. και ο αρχικός προϋπολογισμός του έργου ανήλθε σε 130 εκατομμύρια ευρώ. Το έργο κατά τη διάρκεια κατασκευής του συνάντησε πολλά εμπόδια και προβλήματα που καθυστέρησαν αρκετά χρόνια την ολοκλήρωσή του. Στις 26 Αυγούστου 2019 πραγματοποιήθηκε η έμφραξη της σήραγγας εκτροπής του ποταμού Παραπείρου, οπότε ο ταμιευτήρας Παραπείρου ξεκίνησε να γεμίζει. Απομένει τυπικά μία σειρά προγραμματισμένων εργασιών που πρέπει να πραγματοποιηθούν μετά την έμφραξη, ώστε να θεωρηθεί το έργο πλήρως ολοκληρωμένο. Με την αποπεράτωση του φράγματος, την έμφραξη του ποταμού και την κατάκλυση του ταμιευτήρα ξεκίνησε η σταδιακή δημιουργία της τεχνητής λίμνης Αστερίου με χρονικό ορίζοντα πλήρους διαμόρφωσής της την άνοιξη του 2021. Σύμφωνα με τις προβλέψεις ο ταμιευτήρας θα πληρωθεί από περίπου 50 εκατομμύρια κυβικά νερού πλημμυρίζοντας το χώρο στον οποίο βρισκόταν και το παλιό, απαλλοτριωμένο και ερημωμένο ήδη από το 2009 χωριό Τόσκες. Στη λίμνη του φράγματος Παραπείρου υπολογίζεται να δημιουργηθεί μετά την πλήρωσή της μικρή νησίδα με το ξωκλήσι των Αγίων Θεοδώρων της περιφέρειας Σουβαλιωταίικων να στέκει ερημικά σε αυτή ενώ τα χωριά που βρίσκονται δίπλα και γύρω από τον χώρο της λίμνης είναι το Αστέρι, τα Σουβαλιωταίικα και τα Κριθαράκια. Με την εκμετάλλευση των νερών του ποταμού Πείρου και του παραπόταμου του Παραπείρου -τα οποία θα διοχετεύονται στο φράγμα- αναμένεται να λυθεί οριστικά το πρόβλημα υδροδότησης περιοχών της Πάτρας, της ΒΙ.ΠΕ. Πάτρων, της βορειοδυτικής και δυτικής Αχαΐας. Παράλληλα, η δημιουργία της λίμνης αναμένεται να αποτελέσει εστία ανάπτυξης για τη γύρω περιοχή, ενώ ήδη γίνονται μελέτες οικοτουριστικής αξιοποίησης του έργου και ανάδειξης του φυσικού τοπίου. J	Jim P on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Πολύ ωραίο σημείο για βόλτα και περπάτημα κατά μήκος του φράγματος. Το εκκλησάκι μέσα στη λίμνη είναι πολύ γραφικό. Κρίμα είναι που έχει πλημμυρίσει. Θα έπρεπε να είχαν γίνει ενέργειες για να μη βλέπουμε την εικόνα αυτή. Όπως και να 'χει, το φράγμα είναι κοντά στην Πάτρα και είναι μια γρήγορη εξόρμηση για όποιον θέλει να δει κάτι διαφορετικό. Y	Y.H. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Peiros - Parapeiros Dam, known also as Asteri Dam, is quite new dam, 75 m height, located in the prefecture of Achaia. The dam was made in order to solve the water supply problem of the areas of Patra and the whole northwestern and western Achaia and it has three parts: the Peiros Parapeiros dam, Asteri reservoir and a smaller water intake dam in Valmandura. Its construction began at 2006 and completed at 2019, much after the original date due to many obstacles and unexpected problems. The reservoir is beginning to fill nowadys and one of the exciting things that were done during the works was the preservation of a small chapel located about 400 m south of the dam, that remained today as an isolated island in the center of the lake.
