★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pergamonto is a local watering hole elevated to a destination eatery by the couple who run it. Georgia, who serves and cooks along with her husband, is a joyous delight with a flitting laughter that coalesces small town charm and friendly welcome belying a robust worldliness. We found Pergamonto on return from Balos to Chania, searching desperately for a Taverna not overrun by tourists. We couldn’t fathom our luck at discovering what should be ‘THE’ dinner stop following a day packed with crowded beaches and overexposure to the sun. You will not be disappointed stopping here, and we couldn’t recommend it more. Pro tip: ask for her family’s thyme honey to take home with you (12 euro per kilo at the time of this posting).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pergamonto is truly a hidden gem. Fantastic food and amazing hospitality in a lovely village, just a short drive/cycle inland from the beaches of Platanias. I’ve eaten here on multiple occasions over the last few weeks, each time trying something new from the daily specials menu, and every dish has been wonderful. Highly recommend you do the same!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have already been twice at Pergamonto during our holiday in Crete. Georgia and her husband are very friendly and welcomed us very well every time. The food is real, homemade and full of flavour, the portions are big; the menu offers enough meat and vegetarian options and they also have plates of the day with specials. The price is more than fair and the desserts are fantastic. We will come back!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small and cozy gem! We’ve been on Crete for almost one week now and this is the best restaurant we have been to. The food is well made, the location is quiet and cozy and the prices are a lot better than Chania. It feels very genuine.
Also, the rakia is the best yet - strong and not diluted like the other restaurants we have been to. Pergamónto is worth its top rating ?
