Voidomatis is characterized as one of the cleanest rivers in Europe, as it does not encounter pollution problems. It crosses one of the most beautiful mountainous locations in Greece, which has been designated a national park since 1973, and the gorge of Vikos, which is a monument of natural beauty. Along Voidomatis are some of the most beautiful monotonous, Epirus bridges. The most famous is the bridge of Kleidonia (or Kleidoniavistas), which is located at the exit of the gorge of Vikos. Voidomatis is a suitable river for various river sports, such as canoeing and rafting. The temperature of the river water is very low even in the summer months.

Wonderful and clean river, too cold to enter for me, but definitely refreshing to feel the water a bit in a hot day (almost no shade till u get to the springs). make sure to follow a map (like maps me) so u won’t miss the turn to the springs and continue too much straight like we did… if u r in a good shape it should be around 45 minutes down to the springs, and a bit more than an hour to go up. don’t miss the Vikos viewpoint after your hike!

IMPORTANT There is a spring and there is the river. The springs are beautiful unless you're traveling in late summer (like we did), then there are almost no water. In this period the springs are not impressive at all and not so recommended. But, you can go to the river. The river in that period is beautiful and worth visiting. The water are deep blue and there are places when the water are deep. How to get to both places: If you come from Monderendi, there is a fork with a sign that tell right to Papigno and left to Vikos. To go to the spring, go to Papigno direction. To go to the river, start climbing toward Vikos, aftet 300 m there will be a sign that say Vikos 30', Monderendi 5:30, near that sign there is path that turning to the right, walk that path until you reach an old Monastery, there is a path to the left of it, and afterward you get to the river. If you come from Vikos: Go down until you reach a sign that say Vikos 30', Monderendi 5:30, near that sign there is path that turning to the left. To go to the river walk that path until you reach an old Monastery, there is a path to the left of it, and afterward you get to the river. To go to the springs, keep going down and then turn left. If it sound complicated, it's all very clear and worth the effort!

Beautiful and breathtaking trip from Vicos to Micro Papigko. The spring or "sudden start of the river" looks like karstic rivers in Slovenia. Some shadow as additional price for the hike. The views during the hike unforgettable. Worth regardless the heat and sun. Be careful, the trail however is not properly marked.
