Quite a tough hike (especially back up), but definitely worth it to visit the spring at the bottom of the gorge. On the way there, the views are spectacular!

Absolutely breath taking.. The hike itself to the springs is said to be 30 minutes.. But i must add that it depends on when one decides to go. We went yesterday.. 11th August at approx 10.30am. (NOT recommended for any one of any age) With temperatures of over 38 degrees... and absolutely no shade. We are in good shape and it took us about 45 minutes on the way down and approx 60 minutes on the way back up. You must take plenty of water and walking sticks as there is none to be found on the route down and the path is very slippery. You are enticed to carry on down the path when the turquoise water below first comes into view. The beautiful scenery and a the tranquil sound of the Voidomati reward you for your hard work. The water is freezing few are able to go in further than knee deep.! I can't recommend this route for small dogs.. Ours had a really hard time on the way back up.

Enjoyable trek. Not too hard, but climbing the way back requires a bit of effort. The view is marvelous during the whole way.

We started the trail early in the morning. It is about 40 minutes to go down and the same time up. Stunning view.

Perfect spot to cool down your body temperature! Drinkable water coming from the ground, don't hesitate to drink it

PLEASE READ THIS: If you come from Vikos, there is a point on the trail (after 20 min) with a sign (that has fallen on the path) which shows both Vikos and Monodendry directions. DONT CONTINUE ON THAT PATH, but rather turn left (if you come from Vikos of course), down a smaller path. This leads to the popular point of the river that you see along the hike down. Nothing will happen if you continue with the main path, except you will lose some time and have to either go back up or walk along the empty river (west) on some uncomfortable river stones...? In any case, around 16:30 you might catch some last rays of sunshine so do plan your time accordingly and come before that. Times: Going down in between 20 and 40 min depends how fast you are. Going up is between 40 and 60 min accordingly. What to bring: 1. Shoes - hiking shoes are not mandatory but will obviously be more comfortable. Sports shoes are fine. I walked with good Sandals and it was OK but it is more dangerous if you hit a rock as they can be shaft. Flip flops are not recommended at all. 2. Water - for the going down part you should have at least 0.5L and for going up you can fill up the water from the spring. If you don’t fill it there bring at least 1L. 3. Towel - not a must but if you get inside the water and there is no sun to dry, it might get cold. FYI - mobile reception is not great but it exists here and there. both mobile data and network). Enjoy!
