Pros: Fine jewelry store, top quality customer service, backdrop is a large glass pane offering a beautiful view of the Calderra while you shop, office to a celebrity Santorini jewelry designer, certified Tag Heuer distributor privy to tax laws of Greece, fairly priced from what I could tell. Cons: Not much to say here. As with all Greek stores currently the tax back system seems complicated; my refund was successful in a month. Tip: There is an older gentleman, Donis, whom I highly suggest at least listening to about the design of the Santorini inspired volcanic flower. The story of its craftsmanship is intriguing and well worth your time. It is a unique piece with a unique process. Although, I am not able to appraise its value, I know now the Tag Heuer I bought from them was very reasonably priced. Wearing this flower is personal taste, but probably a must-buy for any complete jewelry collection. My experience: During my honeymoon, I visited this store chain 3 times during my 3 day stay at Santorini. When I first visited the Fira store, I saw the Tag Heuers in the display and decided to stop by. My wife had bought me one early in our relationship and I wanted to make this a honeymoon gift back to her. I consulted with an older gentleman here who offered to sell me their unique volcanic flower ring and also a Tag Heuer watch I was interested in. He was very fanatic about this flower piece, and after listening to his story I could see why. It was unique, something I had never seen before. Technologically it was complex. He proceeded to give me prices for both. I could not appraise the volcanic flower as I had no experience with it but the Tag price at first glance didn’t seem outrageous as would be expected from the finest jewelry store on the island (day later in Paris with internet, I know now the watch price was more competitive than US prices so if you’re looking to update your wrist appearance do it here). The 5-star hotel in Santorini was not cheap and between our honeymoon and wedding our funds were low, so we had to think carefully about large purchases like these. The man did not push the sale. Instead he gave me his card (oh his name was Donis), and wrote the prices on there for me to remember and to keep him fair the following day. Impressive. What an honest way to do business! I continued the rest of my lovely trip on the island, keeping an eye out for jewelry stores that compared. One in Oia caught my eye, since they had Tags in the window. I walked in and a gentleman(he had amazing hair) greeted me. After finding out which Tag I wanted he realized it wasn’t in his store at the time. He didn’t push the sale but simply asked if there was anything else I wanted. Where have I felt this generous customer service before? I stepped outside and checked the store name: Poniros... of course. These were honest people. I proceeded to ask my wife again about the volcanic flower but she seemed to think it was too expensive at this point in life, “maybe in 5 or 10 years when we come back and have more money”, OK. During our last day, we came back to the Poniros in Thira. A lady inside recognized us immediately and called Donnis from downstairs. She said a bunch of Greek but I did make out the word “Tag”. Do they remember every customer? Unlikely since no one is that good. But they did remember us, so I felt the personalized attention. We had to leave Fira by 5:00pm to take the scenic route back to our hotel to make a 5:30 pickup to the airport. So we explained to the staff that we had to go soon to make our 8:00 international flight from JTR. Donis laid out the details of our sale immediately. All 3 members of the staff mobilized to get my payment. They confirmed a nearby mechanic who performed a complimentary watch resizing. Thira can be confusing for tourists; the staff WALKED us there. That last visit to the watch resizing happened in minutes. We ran back to the hotel and were able to make it on time to the airport. Best customer service ever. And I have a very happy wife.

I had been looking for a specific watch for months in the U.S. but was not able to find it. Just happened into the store in Oia while on vacation and met Yoni. To my surprise they had the watch. Yoni took the time to go over the piece with me and answer all of my questions. He made me feel great about my purchase and took all the time we needed. My wife asked him for a suggestion for a good restaurant to watch the sunset, without hesitation he got his co worker on the phone. Fifteen minutes later Yoni took us down the street and up some stairs to a beautiful roof top restaurant where he introduced us to the owner. We got an incredible seat overlooking the sea and the sunset. We then had food delivered that we did not order, they said a friend of Yoni is a friend of ours. What a great night, a new watch, great food and a new friend. By the way we went back to the restaurant a few nights later and they remembered us, incredible hospitality and food. This was what I expected when buying a luxury product and Poniros came through. Thanks

sales technique - okay... I wanted to buy a watch on display and the specific colour but was told by first sales associate that the store is full (3 ladies standing and 1 gentleman sitting) so we can't go in to the store and see the watch so come back in half hour. okay.. but we are on a cruise so we said we can't wait to come back but we will wait in front of the store and when the store is ready just let us know. The sales associate then walked to the other side of street then disappeared ( this is either the sales associate checking prices or confirming whether the store will sell the item or a way to avoid further discussion ). Then ... the owner walked to the window display and took those watches away from the window to the back of the store.( also told me No Photos to the watches ) .Then another sales associate after 10 mins walked out and told us to come back in an hour. We told the second sales lady the same about cruise departure. She seem to be surprised but then same thing, she walked to the side of street then disappeared. Then the owner finally came out and asked us what we want, we said we want the watch with that colour, do you have it ? He said yes but again don't allow us to go in the store as the same group was still there. Then he got in to the store, no more discussion with him. Suddenly the first sales lady came back and said the watch is usually for VIP customer and they are lucky to have those watches. Okay enough, I just told the sales lady if you have the watch but don't want to sell it, thats okay please don't keep me waiting. Then she checked with the owner inside the store and she came back saying sorry someone paid a deposit on that watch already. Alright - for the entire time i have been outside the store for like 20 plus mins so if the watch I wanted is already conditionally sold why will you tell me to come back half hour first time then one hour the second time. I'm sure someone will grab that watch any minute when available but don't play that type of trick. I was in Malta yesterday and the store was nice and friendly , they didn't have the colour I want but whole discussion was very pleasant. Maybe miscommunication or something but I did feel they tried to sell me a watch that I don't want instead if the one I want.. I did feel that way. but of course they can't say they have the watch but don't want to sell it to me either , so I guess saying someone paid a deposit is probably the best way out for everyone. anyway we just walked and truly a bad experience.

Great customer service at Oia, my credit card was blocked as of suspicious activity . I was on hold for half an hour with my bank. Foti was very very helpful and offered to deliver my watch to Fira where I was staying. It came on time and was smooth purchase. I highly recommend.

Eat Best jewellery shop in Santorini

I visited this store today as I wanted to by a new watch while visiting Greece. When I enquired initially about a Rolex, the woman was completely disinterested in answering my questions and reluctant to even let me try the watch. I left and returned later that afternoon because I was still eager to make a purchase while on the island. The same woman let me try a Tag Heuer this time but while I was trying it on and asking her questions, she completely ignored me and served another couple. I left the store, never having experienced such a rude and disinterested salesperson and went down the road to Gofas where I purchased a lovely Omega watch from a very friendly and attentive man. If you’re looking for a watch in Fira - avoid the woman in this shop and go and see George down the road at Gofas, manners cost nothing but in this case resulted in a sale for Gofas and a missed opportunity for Poniros.

I’m going to share a quick story about Poniros, Santorini and my wife and I. 12 years ago in 2010, I was a struggling consultant and my wife was in her last year of Medical School. We got married in Italy and my in-laws gifted us a beautiful honeymoon in Santorini. As we explored Fira we stumbled upon a beautiful jewelry store called Poniros. They had the most exquisite looking jewelry, one being an amazing diamond ring they called the volcanic flower. My new bride (at that time) was astounded by the beauty and the quality of this ring and proceeded to ask for the cost. To our dismay the price of the ring was absolutely out of our price range but completely we’ll worth every penny. We disappointedly left and found a much cheaper ring within our price range. Fast forward to 12 years later on a trip what was planned during the Covid year of 2020. We came back to Santorini and back to the great people of Poniros to celebrate our 12th year anniversary and purchased the ring my wife wanted over a decade ago along with some other accessories to go with it. We decided that this was a complete full circle for us and the amazing people at Poniros made it all happen!! Great products, great jewelry but even more amazing people! Thank you!!
