Porta Del Mare Suites is the most fabulous place to stay on Hydra Island & maybe all of Greece! It is one of the only hotels on the entire Island that has a hot tub, sauna, work out room and amazing views! It is also an extremely convenient location, trust me I stayed at 5 different places. The rooms were huge and the maid was awesome! Just an FYI, not everywhere has a maid and they don't turn down your room every day. Porta Del Mare DOES!!! They also have laundry service & anything else you need sorted. (One of those 5 places was Alkionides Pension & even after I paid them for 2 nights, they had overbooked & kicked me out after the 1st night. Porta Del Mare Suites to the rescue, thank you for saving me!!!) Another reason i loved Porta Del Mare was that you get discounts at some local restaurants and stores! Some of my favorites were Skipper’s restaurant on the water and Peter’s Collection that has some extremely unique, stylish souvenirs and other quality luxury products. When you are looking for places in Hydra Island or any other island in Greece, it is MOST important that you are close to the port or you will spend a lot of your time walking. There are no cars, and sometimes no Donkeys to help you take your stuff and although the villas a little higher up the mountain are absolutely amazing, they hold a few logistical problems like lack of markets, bars, etc. Thank you everyone at Porta Del Mare Suites for one of the most amazing experiences of my travels! See you next time!

We were really looking forward to our stay here and booked it especially, despite the high cost, for my husband's birthday. We were initially impressed that Petros met us from the harbour and helped us with our luggage. Sadly, before we had got to our room and settled in, he asked us when we would be leaving the apartment as he had to do some building work (breaking up a big rock with a very loud pneumatic drill). We said we would be about an hour. He told us to let him know when we got back and he would stop the drilling. Off we went to explore the beautiful island, walking several miles along the coastal path to visit several beaches, before we returned via a gorgeous valley, beset with wild flowers and even the elusive Hydra tortoise! When we arrived back several hours later we returned to the dulcet tones of the aforementioned pneumatic drill. I walked up the steep terraced garden steps to make Petros aware that we had returned. As soon as he saw me, he asked if we wanted to rest and I said yes, he nodded and the drilling (by his friend) stopped for a moment, but then continued as loudly as before. As I went to walk back down the steps, Petros shouted down to me, "how long are you staying in the apartment?". To which I replied, "two days". He laughed at me and shouted, "No! How long are you staying in the apartment this evening?". To which I replied, "for the entire evening". I didn't like that we were being asked when we were leaving when we had just arrived. We had just had a long day of travelling plus had just returned from a 10 mile hike so we wanted to rest and relax, especially as it was my husband's birthday evening, which Petros was aware of. We spent about 30 mins in the hot tub, during which Petros walked past us several times, and lots of loud sledge hammering could be heard. The hot tub then went very cold and then it was turned off, just as he started to rev up the pneumatic drill again, just one flight of steps away from where we were supposed to be relaxing. We could not believe that he continued to do this when he knew we were there. It came across as very rude, obnoxious and unwelcoming. Petros clearly denonstrated that he did not care about our peaceful enjoyment or the fact that we then had to shut all the windows back in our apartment to try to drown out the noise, which went on for several hours in to the evening. Overall, we liked the room and the facilities, although it was a bit cramped and shabby with the cover on the weights being the only view from our bedroom and the sauna. 20 minutes before check out time, Petros banged on our door, reminding us to leave in an aggressive way. We were so disappointed with the host, he really spoilt our holiday. On the plus side it meant that we explored Hydra further as we didn't really feel comfortable in the apartment - Harriet's Hydra Horses is a must do!

Cute and quirky quality. Recently renovated 4 apartments with quality fit out. Rooms are small though and bedroom loft has low ceiling. Communal terrace outside has plenty of room and great views. Recommended for your stay in Hydra.

Comfortable quiet, relaxing. Good bed. Nice courtyard with hot tub and sauna. Good bed and bath amenities. Caution:. Steep steps, 15, from street to front door. Close to Port and easy walk to restaurant. Beautiful rooms. Near police station. Up walk beside Skipper restaurant from harbor.

The place is really nice. Very beautiful decoration. We had the loft and we only wished that we could have stayed our 2 booked nights there. The day we had book Ferry from Ermioni didn't go to Hydra and we missed our chance of staying there and since it was nonrefundable we thought we lost our money. The next day we saw the beautiful cottage room. Self contained kitchen, with utensils and crockeries. Chic bathroom fixtures. Spotless clean. Towels both for shower and Jacuzzi. Cosy environment which make a you wish to stay longer. It's just off the ferry, lots of restaurants and cafes around. We were there on a cold day so the Jacuzzi was truly lovely. The next day we spoke to the lovely owner Petros, he was really kind and he agreed to return our missed night stay which was really kind. We would DEFINITELY recommend it and would try to go back there for longer time.

Conveniently located and clean, nowhere near as nice as the photos, no breakfast ( a discount is offered for breakfast at a couple of local cafe's but we didn't get it despite asking for it) the mini Gym is in reality 3 workout machines in the garden, the Jacuzzi on the roof closes at 6pm so no evenings looking at the bay, the rooms I saw (3 of them) had no view whatsoever and it was a bit claustrophobic. Overall too expensive for what is being offered unless you're only interested in the decor. Balconies are in short supply on Hydra but at least a window with a bit of a view would have been nice.

Amazing location just a few steps from the port, yet really quiet and peaceful. We had studio 3 and it was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The stylish terrace has great views and a jacuzzi. Can't recommend this place enough!
