★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had never been to a palm tree forest before and it's very interesting! Lots of opportunities for pictures ? Really liked the river! Had a lot of fun swimming in the icy cold river ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing beach. We walked from the closest car park where there is a small bar, fairly easy walk. Make sure you wear good footwear.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You HAVE to see this Palm forest, it is just crazy beautiful!
BUT!
First you have to come to the parking which you have to pay 2 euros for whole day.
Then you have to start walking down. There are 500 stairs (i counted) and around 200 more steps on this dirt road. If you are not in shape, it can be very hard. My legs started shaking at around 200th step, and that was only 1/3 of the road. Which is all fine, but remember - you will have to go back up this horrible road when you finish your visit to the forest. I though i would die, but this was nothing compared to Balos beach which is another story that i will tell in my Balos review.
When you finally get down, there is a bar which has a toilette (not good toilette but you can use it). We didn’t sit in this bar, we just caught our breath for 5 to 10 mins, and then found the road to the Palm forest. Just start walking straight and on the left you will see the entrance.
There are always A LOT of people in this forest, but it is worth going there. It feels and looks like you’re in a jungle, and the river there is not deep, it is very shallow and super super cold. But we didn’t bathe there, just dipped our feet. You can take great pics here.
We stayed for almost 2 hours here, and then prepared to go up because Preveli beach is super ugly.
We went to Kleisidi beach, but the waves were insane. So we didn’t bathe there as well, but this beach is nicest in this part of Crete. We took a dip in Damnoni beach, which was packed and nothing special, and we really had a lot of trouble finding parking. We parked on the street pretty far from the beach but we were desperate to just go into the water (after all the Preveli experience).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful! The walk through the water that flows into the sea is phenomenal! The river is a bit colder than the sea but worth a walk. It is reminiscent of African rivers, but this one is safe, there are no crocodiles, just some goose and duck :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is so cool. I love it.
The walk down is more labouring than the walk up, as on the way down you’re worrying about slipping over. The way up is not bad at all - it took me and my partner about 12 minutes to go from bottom to top.
The forest itself? Unbelievable.
So beautiful. After you get past the initial 30m where the material under your feet is all mossy, you’re presented with a crystal clear waterway in front of you filled with little fish. Along the banks, we were lucky enough to see 7 turtles! They were just chilling on the edge.
We left our bag right at the end of the water, and kept a keen eye on it. Nobody tried to take our stuff, which is positive.
