Worth to visit. Sacred monastery, where the body of Saint Gerasimos is kept. From the church stairs are leading down to the cave where the Saint was praying. There is a very narrow hole to get from one chamber to the second (you must crawl to get there). Pics attached.

It was a beautiful building to visit but I couldn't get into the main church. Only a smaller side church was open. I visited when it was still very early in the season I suppose and only just out of Covid so maybe the nuns were taking precautions.

A must-see in Kefalonia. Saint Gerasimos is a great saint of God and his relics bring comfort and hope to the believers fir centuries. The church contains all of his relics and is built on the cave where he used to live and pray. The setting is beautiful and worth a visit in its own right.

Very quiet and peaceful but somehow not as welcoming as it could be. The main church was locked up this visit. I think it would be easy and better if the monastery made a bit more of an effort to explain its purpose and place in history past, present and future. The cave is accessible from the lower church and is open. In the cave there is lots of graffiti on the walls which detracts from the experience somehow. It is very nice to have running water and toilets available if needed. I think there used to be ostriches here. I wonder what happened to them? We knew to dress modestly but the nuns were quick to chase down those who did not. It shuts for lunch.

It was amazing to see, I had to buy a book because the lady or nun didn't really want to speak to us. Shame and we didn't see as much as we could have. Beautiful though xx

Drive past it a few times and looked if the church was open. Non of the time it is. There is no information provided when it’s open. I decided to walk around it. The little monastery is open. They will provide you a shawl for covering your knees and shoulders.
