★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Located at the top of one of the largest rock (Mt. Kalamos) in the mediteranian sea. It has perfect sea view and is famous for the beautiful sunrise. Worth an overnight stay with sleeping bags, food and water supplies to watch both sunrise and sunset. The access is only on foot, the path is an easy one.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic experience. Not a difficult hike if you are used to such activity, but allow about 45min from the lower monastery. Trail is clear and always safe, actually it is surprisingly well maintained for Greek standards (considering that Anafi is a remote and note very touristy island). Absolutely recommended. In fine weather from the top you can see Amorgos, Astypalaia, Santorini and even mountains of Crete, which are 130km away! The church and other buildings at the top were all closed when we visited.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Simply stunning. Don't miss the opportunity to see the sunrise there. The path is well maintained but better to climb either in the afternoon and spend the night there or early in the morning with the first light as it can become dangerous at night. No need for carrying too much stuff, water and since food and a sleeping bag should do it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is about an hour walking. There is a clear path and awesome views at every step.
At the top of the mountain there is a church and an excellent view of the Aegean Sea
Some people choose to stay at night just to see the sunrise.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Second highest monolith in the Europe called Kalamos is the rock where Monastery Panagia Kalamiotisa proudly stands with only sky and birds above. An outstanding monument of orthodox faith, today is an attraction for many tourists abroad. Built in 1715 and kept by two monks , Agapis and Meletis now is ooen for visitors only twice a week.
