★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I didn't get any feeling of the place. Neglected and totally unattended, with no signs, no information, nothing. Just some ruins that might have been part of a medieval house or something. Let me say as a general comment, that for an island with some history, being Ulysses' place etc., there is virtually nothing to substantiate any historical claims on this island. Pity...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are road signs to the School of Homer but when we got there it was all unattended with the gates padlocked and the grass behind them over-grown and looked like no one had visited for a while. We walked and drove further on too to see if there was another entrance (roads are narrow around here and ended up having to reverse!).
Whilst we were there (early June) two other cars turned up and between us we all concluded this place is now closed (at least for the time being). There were no signs or information when you get to the place to indicate anything. We did find a gate where we could get inside but once in we couldn’t get anywhere as it was so over-grown. If it is shut most bizarre that road signs in the towns are still up. Such a shame.
