★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This statue commemorates Minos Kalokairinos, who was born in Heraklion in 1843. He was the first to begin excavating at Knossos.
He also located the site the palace of the ruler of the Minoan period.
The small bronze bust, statue, stands on a marble plinth near the entrance to the Palace of Knossos.
