★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were fortunate enough to visit on national museum day and were greeted by local guides offering services in multiple languages. Immediately upon entry, there is a great spot to get some freshly squeezed juices! After our informative guided tour, we had free time to retrace our steps and visit unseen sections. Beautiful and enormous palace; more than I could have dreamed of!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Palace was partially reconstructed by Sir Arthur Evans just before the second world war. Sir Arthur discovered the site in 1913. There is a lot to see and you need a guide. The crowds and heat will effect your enjoyment so May is OK but higher temperatures will seriously affect your ability to enjoy the site.
The quality of the site is not comparable with the Pyramids or the temples along the Nile but it is worth a visit.
Take water, sun screen and sun hats. There is little shade.
Combine this with a visit to the Archaeological Museum in Herklion to get the most out of your day. Joint tickets are available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Minoan Palace of Knossos, was a magical experience. It cost $15 person. The Palace is huge. We weren't able to do the entire tour. It's well preserved. The areas are marked so you understand what part of history your viewing. Beautiful photo moments. Would go back again and again and again ❤️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This site is not the best ruins site I have ever visited. I personnally prefer much more Roma/Italy for ruins. However, I enjoyed discovering the site with kids.
- Large touristic groups.
- Entrance ticket 15.- Eur.
- We have done the complete tour within 1.5hours with 2 small kids and taking our time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So it's important to know that this is probably the most touristy attraction on the whole of Crete. Endless bus-loads of tourists from cruises, phenomenal numbers.
However, I thought it was still very impressive. Lots of tours, info boards etc. I strongly recommend you do your own research first. Quite expensive (€15 per adult), but not a rip-off.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The palace wasn’t either surprising nor extraordinary, at all, the tickets were quite expensive, I wouldn’t say it’s much worth it. We were definitely expecting something better than just a few renewed ruins, but after all it’s been built nearly 3 thousand years ago, which is really cool. If you have the time and money, I believe it’s worth taking a visit

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you go in knowing that most of what you see is a re-creation and some of it is even based on some guess-work, then it is much more enjoyable. After seeing other Minoan ruins that are now just short rock walls outlining what used to be there, I personally enjoyed seeing what some of the original palace would have looked like. Much more interesting that way. We arrived at 9:30am on a weekday at the end of May and the crowds were light. On our way out around 11:00, the line at the entrance was very long. So go early and beat the crowds and the heat and then go to the museum in Heraklion after lunch.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place full of history. Easy to walk around, if you are in hurry you could see everything in 15 minutes. I recommend visiting in the morning, because in the afternoon the sun will be above the pillars with the bull painting and it will be harder to take a good photo. A lot of free parking spaces nearby. Adult ticket costs 15€ (april 2022). There are many gift shops across the street.
