It is one of the last battles between southern greece city- states and northern Greece Macedonian state , prior to their (Macedonians) domination in the whole of Greece. Interesting is that this monument is built in an area near Parnassos mountain which is a popular vacation place near Arhens , close to Delphi famous ancient monument.

Thebes were destroyed by Macedonians completely after this battle. United Greece led by Alexandre the Great moved to the East creating Hellenic phase of the Middle East history.
