Climbed on it, talked with local parrots. I rested well. They don't sell beer on tap, but the atmosphere is good

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just a fun place to visit. It is a short walk from Platanias center... uphill. This tree has survived the motorbikes, cars and trucks. In the heat of the summer it proved really nice shady place to see the town from above. Nice vista to the south side and restaurants, coffee places nearby. Also, if you climb the road just a bit you will find two other interesting places for tourists to visit; The war cave memorial (museum, cheap) and a church + cmemetery. AND BONUS: there is absolutely nice vistas of the Chania/Platanias bay and beach areas.
